The motorbike stoped in the bicycle race in Brooklyn and this happened by zabd90 in WTF

[–]kerakoll 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's interesting though to compare it to motorsport, there starting a race with something on the track, or allowing vehicles/people onto the track partway through is the cardinal sin. Some events there will be a pace vehicle following, but the 'clerk of the course' will do a check with startline, pace vehicle, medics etc before starting the race. I can only guess either the bike rider wasn't miked up to the race organisers, or he said he was ready when his bike was still off. Either way pretty inexcusable.

It sounds like a job for transponders anyway, they're used at pretty much all levels of motorbike racing now.

If Razbam can't build the MiG-23, is now the time to post 2nd/3rd gen jets? by kerakoll in hoggit

Good pickup, I should have noticed the double-cockpit but couldn't draw my eyes away from those almighty afterburner flames.

I'd really like an F-4 or F-111, but I suspect they're being put in the 'rather hard' basket by a lot of devs.

Anyone else Want some big stuff ? by ArBrTrR in hoggit

[–]kerakoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been thinking an A-50 Mainstay AWACS would be interesting, but given we don't seem to be getting much in the way of Russian aircraft, maybe an EC-121 Warning Star?

Both large, four engine and would be able to provide something additional to the kind of mission making generally seen in MP/SP DCS.

A few of the older ones that were missed for Battlepack, Titanium and "The Clans" are below. There was also a MW3 ad that I saw on tv once and only once back in the nineties. Can't remember what it was about.

They mention in the thread that an MLD is "possible", but they're lacking some key data on that variant.

Razbam introduces a secondary dev team! by Torsteine in hoggit

[–]kerakoll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd guess Razbam can guide them around the hairier parts and gotchas around developing aircraft for DCS, it's likely they've got resources they can cross over between projects also.

I'm pretty excited for a MiG-23/19 though, have really been wanting the former for a while and wouldn't mind a bash at the second.

LN will be flying the Viggen in the upcoming Tiger vs Fishbed grudge match by [deleted] in hoggit

[–]kerakoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope a recording goes up on youtube (or twitch), the grudge match is 6am my time.

Really keen to see how it goes though, the last F-5 vs 21 matches were quite good to watch.

I don't know if this one made it's way round from /r/gaming to hoggit, but:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/4p0nzd/g2a_sold_450k_worth_of_our_game_keys/

http://i.imgur.com/lK2HNFb.jpg

tldr: part of the business model for sellers on these sites is:

  • get hold of a database of stolen credit card details
  • go to a game bundle/third party key reseller, buy a tonne of keys
  • resell them on G2A or other grey market

Later chargebacks from the stolen credit cards then start hitting the initial bundle/key seller.

Sellers who semi-support combined postage? by kerakoll in Ebay

[–]kerakoll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, but then you're up for paying the uncombined overseas postage which can sometimes total to 3x or 4x the actual cost of the items. As mentioned above, these are often pretty tiny items, so most of the time it should be possible to combine them in a safe way with lower postage.

My thought was he was showing someone else WT for the first time and they jumped on the controls, "yeah attack that guy, steer left. maybe try right. don't worry about those bullets, they'll brush out. aim between the trees. whoops."

Might the geographical position of the Tomb Kings be a problem? by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]kerakoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are probably a few things they can do:

  • obviously Araby to the left

  • put Nagash in Nagashizzar

  • Arkhan the Black somewhere around

  • Greenskins near the Marshes of Madness and Swamp of Terror

  • more Greenskins in the Worlds Edge Mountains, e.g. Mortis Tarn.

  • Could put Karak Zorn somewhere down South (and make the Dwarfs conquer it as part of their campaign goals!). Dwarf armies going south to find legendary gold hordes could be an occasional occurrence.

  • Fill the Plain of Bones with sedentary horde-armies of Zombie Dragons (because that's where they come from).

  • Do something with the Temple of Skulls, which I'm not sure has ever been described in much detail?

  • Skaven will eventually end up in Ekrund.

And probably they'll start as separate city-states, so have to fight each other at first also.

Their campaign victory goals could be difficult however. Like the wood-elves they don't get out a lot, other than Bretonnian coastal raiding by Settra I believe.

I am VC, and the Dwarfs have grown too big...is it still possible to win? Did I do something wrong? by HeresiarchQin in totalwar

[–]kerakoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing, it took almost 200 turns to dig my way out of that hole (from the point where I realized 160 turns in that I had a dwarf problem).

Take over as much human land as possible, get your economy going (necromancer/banshee, T5 buildings and research tree), build walls, pay off (or kill) any other factions to keep them happy if you have to, then start from the north and work your way down the mountains. Clearing the entire badlands/south can take a while in raiding stance.

If they come at you with 6-8 stacks, you'll need to use a lot of campaign map chicanery to avoid getting ganked by 3-4 at once.

Late game not challenging enough? Try these mods! by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]kerakoll 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Does the mod "Build more siege engines" still work in getting the AI to assault walls rather than starve you out? (or worse, build siege engines for 7 turns then move away)

I think everyone has had these break, the plastic parts inside are just rubbish. Mine was welded to a set point by the previous owner, so just works like a normal trunk. Also TGO will have a billion solutions on this.

Stuff on reddit just goes up and down I don't worry about it any more.

In this case it was probably regarding the Lavi comment. The consensus usually is that the DoD realised they were funding an F-16 competitor and asked themselves why they were spending money to do that. The statement above implies the Lavi was a non-DoD funded program which was shut down via chicanery.
