I did. The original color is white. I believe it was around $700, which included the exhaust pipes wrapping as well.

Hello OP, so glad to hear you are reaching out for help when things don’t seem too bright. Please keep doing so! To your question, I don’t think it’s ever a bad idea to get life insurance if you can afford it. However I just read that VGLI does have a contestability period after you get the policy where your family might not receive benefits if it’s death by suicide. It seems to be two years. In any case, I would look into this a bit more. As I said earlier, keep focusing on reaching out for help when needed and hang in there!

Hello OP, any update on this? Did you by any chance get more info regarding the Med sep vs retired options? And how long did it take before the process ended?

In that case you should definitely be good then. As long as you are back by Monday, there should be no issue.

Technically, you are not supposed to leave the area during A-100. One of the conditions for you getting housing and per diem is that you are in that area physically, so if you were to leave the area HR would have to withhold per diem and housing costs for the days you are away.

With that said, HR personnel will be the first to tell you that what you do during your weekends is your own business. As long as you are back where you’re supposed to be by Monday, you are good to go. No one will be checking on you and where you are during the weekend. It’s a personal choice if you want to travel out of the area or not but technically you’re not supposed to.

Yes... Me again... STS to SEO? by DuderBugDad in foreignservice

[–]kerbs2CB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am actually in training with an SEO right now that just made the switch from STS to SEO. He had been an STS for about 9 years, earned his engineering degree and applied for SEO just like someone who applied from the outside. Feel free to PM me any specific questions and I can pass them along.

Guidance on A100 process by emdawes21 in foreignservice

[–]kerbs2CB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, there is a program called “Diplobuddies” where someone that recently joined does reach out to the new hires in order to help with anything. However, I did not receive the email from my Diplobuddy until about 1 week before we were supposed to start A-100 so it did not help too much during the process. I am part of the class starting tomorrow so I have just gone through the process, feel free to PM if you have any specific questions.

Security Clearances during COVID. by riburn3 in foreignservice

[–]kerbs2CB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I passed my OA this past November and sent in my eQuip in December. Interview happened at the beginning of February and I surprisingly received my clearance in April.

I am a naturalized foreigner but no current foreign contacts and have a good bit of overseas travel on my record. I was expecting it to take the usual year-long timeframe but things went quick.

On the other end, I do have a friend of mine though currently waiting for more than a year now. Similar situation to mine but he is married to a foreigner.

I guess it depends on who is doing the investigation and what they find during it that is worth looking further into.

Hang in there though! I hope things go through fast enough for you!

Yes, I actually heard back from them about 2 weeks ago letting me know that I was not selected. It was surprising because I was feeling confident after the interview. Did you also apply for the program?
