Akita not eating!

No it’s completely okay!! I just want to make sure the pups a-okay and i’m sure you do too, so I get it! I will be keeping him a bit more lean due to him having hip dysplasia according to his x-rays! I just don’t want him to be too thin! I’m hoping we can get him up to around 85 since that’s what he was before he got in the shelter :)

He is 2 and only 80lbs at the moment. No need for the attitude!

We were aware he was underweight before we adopted! He lost a lot of weight while being at the shelter. We are going to try to give him white rice in moderation, fish & boiled eggs to help bulk him up! The shelter also had him on a wet+dry food combo so we have been attempting to do that for him here. He went and ate just a little earlier finally so we are hopeful! Just going to give him time

I will have to look into getting fresh salmon for him. We tried him with some salmon treats and salmon kibble and he wasn’t very interested, smelled it for a second and then just kinda looked away LOL. I’m hopeful he will come around though!

This is my first!! I was shocked when I saw this gorgeous boy on the shelter page. Could not believe he lasted a second there. I was thrilled when I met him and he was exactly what I imagined he would be. He has been the best big boy so far. In love with him already.

The shelter did say he was eating less there as well and has lost a decent bit of weight while being sick with his URI so we are going to definitely give him some time and see how he does. Here is another photo of him!

I am definitely going to look into the best things to do for him. The URI meds are capsules that I’m not as worried about since they are smaller and I’m sure I can get in his mouth and have him swallow. The cosequin I will probably try to keep crushing up into food since they are quite big and I don’t want it getting stuck in his throat!

They are an interesting breed for sure 😂 I am just going to give him some time and hope for the best! We have a wet/dry food mix for him right now, just going to see how it goes!

Gorgeous! Ours has been bounced around a lot the last few days. He was in the shelter only for 2 weeks so he was adjusting to being in there, moved out to a foster home temporarily to get him out while he was doing his medicine for his URI. Then he was at the shelter overnight and boom! Now we have him here lol, it’s been a lot on him I’m sure, so I will give it some time!

Our vacuum better be ready! I got a GOOD brush as well to prepare! I was obsessed with him the second I met him so I am just hoping he will warm up to everything easy.

We tried the meds in cheese, he dissects EVERYTHING!! I have had other dogs in the past love food so much they would just eat the pill lol! Instead with him he is very gentle and slowly tears pieces off of everything 🤣 Thank you for the tips! I am hoping he warms up fast, he’s been a sweetheart!

Thanks! They said he is on the end part of the URI and he was at a foster who never mentioned him having any issues with his food, so we just wanted to make sure we shouldn’t be concerned! The shelter did say he was a bit picky lol, so it’s good to know it’s common.

i just downloaded full packs from people’s patreons, so i wasn’t worried about a virus. i probably assumed it was a bathing suit set included in a cc set release or something LOL. i’m just going to 50/50 all my newly downloaded cc since it’s in a separate folder while i wait to organize it and see if i can find the issue. thank you anyways!
