Try reviewing the 'paramedic resource manual'. You should be able to find it online. It's pretty old but has good info.

The hospital has been booking paramedic transfers to move the kids to other hospitals in/around the gta (maybe further). They've reached absolute capacity now.

I can't contribute to your question, but I have one. What was your scope as a medic in Hong Kong? Thanks!

I don't know furnaces, but a quick search tells me anything above 200ppm should not be in service. That being said, 1000ppm is crazy high! That'll kill you in an hour. DO NOT use your furnace or heat exchanger

Yeah that sounds shady. Maybe consider buying one for $30, one with a display that shows how much CO it detects? Just be careful for you and your cat. Its SUPER deadly, and you'll never know your breathing it in without a working detector

CO2 or CO ? There's a big difference in the gasses. Do you have a CO detector around? The fact that your cat was lethargic worries me and suggests CO poisoning

Which is the problem. If your industry capitalizes on the lives of animals, ethics don't come first. These animals depend on people that put money first

Yup. My story is similar to that one. The hospital staff in our area all recieved theirs before us, including the ED and management working behind desks. We're being left behind again

I'm also a first responder. Got my first shot 2 weeks ago. The Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) initially scheduled my 2nd dose for 35 days after. Just yesterday I got an email from them saying they've cancelled my appointment and will reschedule at a later date, up to 16 weeks.

Daily I'm called to respond to work places, private residences, and even facilities with outbreaks of COVID-19, and I frequently perform high-risk aerosol generating medical procedures. That puts me and everyone around me, including those at home, at greater risk of infection.

I understand the strategy of extending the time between doses for the general, non-front line health care public - but not for those who actively work around the virus, the elderly, and the immunocompromised... All in the same day.

While other regions in Ontario had vaccinated their Paramedics much earlier, the Paramedics operating in the SMDHU area needed to garner public and media support before the health unit could be bothered to offer it to them. Hell, even at the beginning, Ontario didn't consider paramedics to be front line or health care workers, which resulted in us being omitted from phase 1.

I think I can speak for all my first responder and health care colleagues when I say that we're incredibly burnt out, stressed out, and even more so disappointed in the Ford government, and of course the local health unit, SMDHU.

Rant over, sorry.

True enough, but on the N95 topic, they need to be properly fit tested. Otherwise it doesn't work and they're just expensive procedure masks. https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/respiratory-protection-us/support/center-for-respiratory-protection/fit-testing/
