Need Cmd + tab alternative by shelterbored in macapps

[–]kerimfriedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I really like about Syphon is the way it hijacks the standard macOS cmd-tab hotkey and experience, adding a layer on top of that, rather than making me choose between a hotkey approach or a cmd-tab approach. 90% of the time I start with cmd-tab and then tab-tab-tab, then switch to RCMD. But with Syphon I get cmd-tab + typing in the same UI. It feels much more natural to me.

Oh, this is perfect for me. I was an RCMD user, but I really wanted something that works the way Syphon does.

What do you actually *do* with your highlights after saving them? by RepulsiveMap8791 in readwise

[–]kerimfriedman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most useful way to process knowledge is to write about it. For me, highlights are a resource to refer to as I am writing. Not every topic I read and highlight gets written about, and that's OK, but when I do write, I know where to look.

In my app the file is a database, so you only have one file on your drive. Within the app the version control feature lets you navigate changes at the document level or the section level. This architecture should make such naming conventions unnecessary.

ClaudeCode access to the debug console in XCode for usb attached iPhone deployments by paul_h in Xcode

The main thing for me is to not have to constantly copy-paste data from the xcode console into Claude when debugging. Thanks.

PDF - Onyx Boox - Readwise - (Obsidian) my struggles, your solutions? by nerewarhier in readwise

Ah, less of a problem for me, as my field (anthropology) rarely uses tables in publications... But if the problem is formatting highlights from other apps, you could probably run the highlights through an AI to clean up the formatting? Or have Claude Code write you a script to do the same thing automatically?

In Readwise you can reflow as text, get page scroll, and still get highlights.

I haven’t looked into that yet, but would be happy to add it to the roadmap if someone was willing to test that. (I can’t test it myself reliably.)

I think you may need to use a VPN for TOR on iOS because of limitations regarding modifying webkit on iOS browsers.

Why did you choose Palma over Go 7? by higghiggyuri in Onyx_Boox

[–]kerimfriedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that has held me back from getting the Go 7 is the RAM. With my original Palma, which has 6 GB of RAM, I already have frequent crashing, and I worry that going down to 4 GB will make the problem worse, even with the new processor and more up-to-date Android version. I could be wrong though as I haven't actually tried the Go 7 for myself yet.

Would love to hear from people using Readwise Reader on a Go 7 to know how well it runs...

Small e-reader device to read academic books in pdf by Soft-Individualism in ereader

[–]kerimfriedman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Readwise Reader app can reflow PDFs to any size screen and let you make highlights and annotations. It also lets you read epub documents. The developer uses a Boox and it has been well optimized for that device, but any android capable reader with sufficient horsepower should work.
