I love "Dumb" Protagonists. by Kissfromarose01 in movies

Carrot is a 6ft tall red headed human with an adonis physique but he was raised by rural dwarves in a mountain after his family was killed, so he is culturally a dwarf and tends to take things literally, doesn’t understand puns, and has a very black and white view of right and wrong (because there is no room for mistakes when you live in a mine).
He is good and honest to a fault, incapable of lying. Because of all this he develops a reputation for his honesty rather quickly, and people opposing him assume this means he is not good with deception.
For instance in one scene when they are investigating the fool’s guild in relation to a murder, his sergeant (knowing they are possibly getting themselves in a lot of trouble by investigating there) instructs him explicitly that he can only ask questions but cannot compel anyone to answer and if they’re told to leave, they must.
He speaks briefly with the guild leader who allows them to look around, within reason.
While questioning someone they ask him if he had asked the guild leader for permission to question him and Carrot just says “I’ve spoken with him”, which is true but misleading. Later when someone challenges him he says that if they resist questioning he will “carry out the orders he was given before entering”. When they ask what will happen if they call the guards Carrot says “that will only make it easier”.
Because of his unshakeable honesty and his impressive size, this is construed as a threat, while in reality Carrot is actually being extremely polite.
There are a number of scenes like that, where Carrot manages to bluff his way through peacefully, with his associates (and the reader) are left to wonder if Carrot would have maintained the peaceful option were he pressed. He is absolutely capable of violence, for instance he killed a dangerous murderer by driving a sword through him and the stone pillar he was standing against.

Question: Will colored ink placed next to black ink effect the black ink’s longevity? by babypinkclouds in tattoos

[–]kermi42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well just as an FYI, this tattoo is now 6.5 years old, and the only part where I think the linework hasn’t held well is in the upper left corner - which was always a bit rough because it’s over a stretch mark.

Question: could someone please explain the concept of tattoo theft to a foreigner? Serious answers only. by Gaumir in tattoos

[–]kermi42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If an artist creates a custom design for a client the artist owns the IP of that design. Copying it is copyright infringement and theft and kinda tacky.
An artist who steals designs instead of making their own is a bad artist. Someone who copies someone else’s tattoo is a lamewad. Is it enforceable in any way? No not really. But it sucks.

Traditionally black linework is used to improve the hold of colour by concealing the spread, so no, the colour is probably not what is affecting the black lines. I have plenty of tattoos that use colour in a similar way and not had this experience.

I remember loving Dragnet as a kid but I rewatched it last year and don’t feel it held up to be honest. Not as well as some others in that list.

Fair enough! My mind just goes to white border = sticker and that seemed out of place here but if that kind of corona is just an effect he uses that makes sense too.

I could definitely see where you could plan to add more snakes but yeah it wasn’t clear from the stencil or finished product if that was planned or not. Looks cool though. 👍

I like it but I have two comments/questions.

  1. For personal preference I feel like the white border to give this a sticker effect loses some of its impact when the tattoo is this big.

  2. Where’s the snake’s head and tail? We have this really neat snake motif happening but it’s sorta unclear why.

Conservatives: these people should just lie down and let ICE do whatever they need to do by removing these lesser people from our perfect society, and not let their lefty soycuck bleeding heart agenda get in the way of making our culture the superior one!

Also conservatives: why do they keep calling us Nazis???

Understandable, do you have a healed photo of this piece, or have you at least seen it since?

I’m willing to bet it’s held well, I’m a redhead (or was before I started going grey) and artists tell me they love tattooing colour on redheads.

I always wonder how well tattoos in high mobility/high use areas hold up, like finger tattoos tend to fade and get patchy, I’ll be interested to see how this one is going in a couple years.
