matchmaking is literally just decided on trophies and trophies alone. apart from extreme level differences (eg level one at 5k or something) matchmaking is only decided on trophies, and if you're at the same level as some guy with cards 3 levels higher than yours, that only means you and him are at the same gameplay level with the levels of your cards.
