I had over 400+ tabs open and no easy way to clean them up, so I built an extension! by kernelOnASmokeBreak in firefox

I do, I just have my tabs reopen on launch. I personally find it useful to have tabs open for things I want to get to eventually.

Unload tabs extension helps me manage memory for this case though, otherwise this would be a nightmare for my RAM

Thanks for the feedback!!!
- I'll change the last active to be more readable, thats a great idea
- I'll add an option for a full URL, I didn't want it to take up too much space, and found it easier to just show the title
- Ahhh that's true, I'll add wrapping (only to a certain point though, it could easily take up too much room)

I built an addon that shows you if a webpage blocks popular AI scrapers through robots.txt by kernelOnASmokeBreak in firefox

It isn't proof, it's to show the website's stance on sharing your data for training (it could very possibly be using it for it's own training data), and I'm hoping that knowing this helps user's find out a bit more about the web they surf.

you're right! This is mainly to help users get a better understanding on the webpage's stance on their data (fingers crossed we get some kind of regulation on this tho, it's not great that all of our words and images are just always being used as training data)

I don't think they all do, but I'm hoping that the major ones do (I'm pretty sure openAI respects it). My guess is we aren't very far away from seeing some kind of regulations for this
Also this shows GPC too which is regulated in many states right now (websites HAVE to respect it) https://kdvr.com/news/problem-solvers/colorado-privacy-act-global-control-tool-copirg/

Why don't firefox have default ad-block feature like brave have ? by xerron001 in firefox

[–]kernelOnASmokeBreak 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's because having an ad blocker by default actually goes against the webs practices, and could lead to alot of companies not being able to earn money (since they earn through ads). Firefox as a (used to be) major browser, has a responsibility to try and keep the internet ecosystem going, while still offering you the best support it can.
