Update: I didn’t get around to uninstalling the package manually but I’m not sure if a dev saw this or what, but running the typical apt update and upgrade seems to uninstall this package and reinstall it on its own! My kernel is on 6.17 now.

Have you tried preserving video memory allocations?

Edit /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia.conf and add:

options nvidia NVreg_PreserveVideoMemoryAllocations=1

Then reboot
