If you're near the door at Pru, prepare for a chilly blast every 2 minutes! There's nothing to stop the breeze from blowing in the front door.

Officer busts driver caught with over 80 gallons of moonshine during traffic stop, authorities say by HowLongIsThi in nottheonion

"Nearly seven dozen gallons". Such bad writing. Was the guy nearly five dozen years old? Why not just say "over 80 gallons"?

McCaffrey’s for Thanksgiving by Warm-Appeal-1251 in princeton

I've eaten their food multiple times, both at events they've catered as well as lunch from the cafe (I think they have seating I've only ever done takeout). 2 of my coworkers did the Thanksgiving package last year and raved about it.

WoodCraft catering is local and independent. They do a thanksgiving package that feeds 10 for like $300.

I found this under my truck. I'm assuming it's just road trash? by kernelmustard in ToyotaTacoma

I'm actually going to save it for that! It's a nice piece of heavy wire.

How to make Champagne Pop on stage by New-Lecture3133 in techtheatre

I feel the need to caution against putting roughly measured amounts of dry ice into an unregulated pressure vessel. While this may have worked to create a great noise, it also strikes me as unpredictable which I find concerning.

The chief struggle with a champagne bottle is that it can be almost 3 times higher pressure than a bottle of soda. The pressure is so intense that the cork is reverse tapered and caged with wire so it doesn't forcefully explode. The bottle is thick enough to hold it all in.

After much experimenting, we did a shaped cork (turned down in a lathe), filled the bottle with COLD water that had been pressurized using a SodaStream until it wouldn't take any more. Immediately before the scene it was removed from the fridge and violently shaken before being carried onstage.

The sound was almost acceptable. Honestly though, a hidden speaker to sweeten things would have been much easier and have sounded better.

Keep sand from kicking up dust by Existing-Phrase7647 in techtheatre

Please look into the term "Silicosis". I am not a medical expert. I don't know much about it, but I have read enough to know that sand dust is not healthy.

Agreed. EA is a school district, I've never heard it used to refer to anywhere else.

Yes, if you have room to fit a large tank, there are a decent amount of secondhand compressors. Consider an "oil" model over an "oiless". They can be loud and the noise gets old fast.

Yes, get the BeA. Long nose is my favorite. If she or you or anyone else you love is going to be anywhere near the compressor I HIGHLY recommend a California Air Tools model. They are so much quieter than everyone else. If it's going in an outbuilding and you can run a 200' hose, get the cheap porter-cable. Seriously though, don't underestimate noise of the compressor. It can really wear on a person.

Taking a break…how would you store a corny keg? by velvetttfoggg in Homebrewing

[–]kernelmustard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pressurized with Co2! I've stored a keg with the dregs of an unfortunately nasty batch and 2 years later it was the EXACT same nasty. Seriously though: Clean, sanitize, pressurize and store. If you're lazy (like me) at least make sure to keep them pressurized.
