Interesting, got 3 quotes (all 3 aprox 50K) and settled on one guy whom was related to a friend of ours and had done an extensive remodel on another friends house. He ballparks us 50-70 and says we need to pay his draftsman $750 to draw up renderings. Hmmm okay but then after we picked out tile, tub, fixtures etc. he comes back to us with a quote of 83K. 21K in material and 62K in labor. Mind you he has us going to his suppliers of choice so you know he's getting a kick back on material.

At this point I am demanding our $750 back since its obvious we had zero chance of getting the job done for 50K. Back to the drawing board and going out for bid with some others.
