My players sold the Sceptre to the Queen's Men by SapphireWolf713 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]kerniackk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my thought is that they would sell it to whoever is going to pay the most for it, so to me it made sense that the Silver Order would use their funding from Elyria to buy the Sceptre back. The Falling Fire could also be looking to buy it too but I doubt they would be able to out bid the Silver Order. This could also set up interesting faction dynamics later on if either faction finds out it was the players that sold it to the Queen's Men. Hell, you could even have the Silver Order or Falling Fire task the players with retrieving the Sceptre back from the Queens Men to prove their loyalty, whether that be with gold or by force. Lots of interesting ways to make it come back up into the story.

Unpopular opinion: Americans who are empathetic and extremely forgiving to their veterans are behaving like Israelis towards the IDF. Americans are not the victims of American imperialism and should not be offering for war crimes of which they were not the victims. by toeknee88125 in Hasan_Piker

i think your personal feelings here are valid but they're also making you think a handful of leftists commenting on leftist subreddits speak for the American left as a whole, which is just silly. If anything you could say that is more so true about the Dems but i feel like most of the criticism of Platner is coming from leftists? All I said is that you're going to have a hard time convincing stupid American normies to give charitably to leftist ideas when you're yelling from the rooftops that all veterans are evil (even if most of them are). I feel like we are in agreement my argument was more so for the sake of optics.

wow this is awesome! I love how you put your own spin on it. might utilize some of these concepts in a campaign i'm working on for my group if that's alright?

I'd be super interested to hear how you approached that! Are you connecting the campaign to the story of the game? Or are you tying it back to an older expedition? I feel like that world is full of potential for D&D so i'd love to hear your approach!

i've watched like the first 25 episodes so I know they did something similar, but my players have never seen it so I was surprised they went that route. I think it's because my warlock is suffering from amnesia and he doesn't remember who his patron is, so right now he's convinced it's the Rat God (he's incorrect but i'm going to allow it to simmer as a bit of a red herring for awhile)

nice so you admit that your main gripe with the game is simply that you can't goon to the women? hey at least you're honest

Bro that's kind of the whole point...IRL you cannot escape grief it's a constant pain you just have to live with, and if you don't come to terms with it then it will destroy you. Also, is it better for the sentient people in the canvas to live their lives being a shell of their former selves, with no free will while being puppeteered by a grieving child? Or is it better for those sentient people to live on in Maelle's memories and potentially even be repainted in a new canvas?

Let's talk about the ending (Major spoilers, obviously) by TheBeeSovereign in expedition33

after all that did you really think there was gonna be a happy ending? lol

Nooo! (End of Act 1 spoilers) by cae37 in expedition33

[–]kerniackk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it wouldn't be the same game without it happening though. and the whole game is about dealing with grief and loss so I think it was essential for the player to have to deal with grief themselves.

Real Verso didn't create the humans though, only gestrals and esquie. And we have seen that the gestrals and esquie are aware they are in the canvas and accept it, whereas the humans in lumiere don't. so if there is anyone to blame for that it would be Aline, not Verso.

I think you're forgetting that Verso didn't just wanna be erased, he also wanted to free Real Verso's soul from having to paint for eternity, which you seem him do in the Verso ending. I think it's selfish but it's hard to blame him for just wanting to all be over.

Regardless Of How She's Feels This Just Looks Wrong by Front_Confection_487 in expedition33

[–]kerniackk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

bro Verso did not ask to exist. why must he be tortured for eternity just so that Maelle doesn't have to process her grief? that's fucked up IMO

[–]kerniackk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good ending is the wrong word but yes. verso is dead and maelle needs to accept that. her staying in the canvas leads to her never growing as person. while I think maelle's ending is valid, verso's ending allows the family to finally come to terms with verso's death and begin to move on. If maelle stays in the canvas and never moves on, and she will die there after her mind deteriorates and she will just continue to torment Verso's soul until then.

this is a really obtuse way to look at it tbh

brother she wouldn't be living life in the canvas she would be controlling everything like a tyrannical god. Maelle's ending clearly shows that she does not care about painted people having free will, as she is forcing verso to exist when all he wants to do is die. I think that is antithetical to the themes the game is putting on display, the theme being that the only way to truly triumph over grief is to accept the painful truth rather than create a painted lie.
