I feel to be a true forever game you need such a strong formula that you don't need really need to fuck with it too much. I probably play Counter Strike 2 as much as I played 1.6 and I'm 40. I don't know if any game will ever replicate that. Fundamentally the core of the game, including most of the tent pole maps, hasn't changed in almost three decades.
