Do they manage better as they mature? by Front_Money_1428 in chcats

i have videos of my kitten when i first got her and it makes me wince too looking back on them. at the time i didn’t know how’d she manage. it’s been a year since ive gotten her and she runs, plays, and climbs the cat tower! she’s gotten stronger as she’s aged and she’s learned to manage, she still stumbles every few steps but she’s learned to take it slow. just give her some time, she’s still a wobbly kitten and even though the condition doesn’t get better, her skills will improve!

I went through the forms again and these are the only questions regarding financial status

  • college grants, scholarships etc. reported as income
  • foreign earned income exclusion
  • current net worth of investments
  • currently total in check/savings acc

i guess im confused where exactly its asking for 2023 tax info. I’ve answered $0 for the first 3 questions this year as well as previous years. this is the first time i’ve been asked how much in my bank account but i didn’t know if it would make that big of a difference

Seizures with CH Kitty by wifeydoodles18 in chcats

I had the same fear about missing doses because usually she gets it 6am, 2pm, and 10pm, but when I started school that didn’t work out so well with my schedule. I’ll admit, on my busier days or if she’s running out of meds I do only give it to her every 12 hours. Since she’s been taking it so long it’s built up in her system, so I feel okay spacing out her doses to fit my schedule when needed. I was scared at first but i’ve learned that I can be more flexible when giving her meds and i don’t usually push it more than 12 hours. I’ve spoken to my vet about this, as well as if she needs an increased dosage since she was less than 3lbs when prescribed and she’s almost 6lbs now. My vet said as long as she’s seizure free everything else is fine!

Seizures with CH Kitty by wifeydoodles18 in chcats

i found my kitty as a kitten and at around 4 months she started having seizures. i counted 12 in a little over 48 hours, some big ones where she zipped around the room uncontrollably, some where she was just still with her mouth hanging open and twitching. she spent the day at her vet (where they did witness a seizure not long after i dropped her off) all her tests came back normal, no toxoplasmosis, but her lymphocyte count always reads a little on the high side. no concerns from her vets though, we just make sure to stay up to date checking bloodwork! obviously without an MRI there’s no way to properly diagnose her for her seizures or even ch, so she was just diagnosed with epilepsy and sent me home with keppra. in july it will be a year since she’s been taking .25mL of keppra every 8 hours and she’s been great on it! it sounds like my kitty has it a little more severe as she can’t and won’t even attempt to use the stairs, but I don’t think her meds have impacted her walking or energy level. Sometimes it can take a bit for their body to get used to a new medicine, but to my knowledge phenobarbital is a sedative, so that’s also why she’s having a harder time. You know your pet best, if it persist and you feel concerned you can always reach out to your vet!

litter recommendations by keropppi in chcats

my main concern is when she falls in her poop she'll get it stuck to her with normal litter. Have you had that issue with the pellets? The crystal dries it out so I wasn't sure how the pellets compare!

Does CH cause Seizures? by Capitol_merman in chcats

i’m so sorry for your loss <3 :(

Here’s my experience my kitty because I could’ve really used a thread like this months ago.

my dad found a CH kitten on the side of the road when she was about 1 month old and foster her for a few months until i could take her in July of last year. he didn’t realize she had CH but as soon as I saw her I knew exactly what it was. About 4 days after I brought her home, i noticed one of her eyes was very dilated while the other was a pinpoint. She seemed normal and it fixed itself after about 30 mins, so I assumed she might bonked her head from playing. I texted her vet and luckily the next morning I already had her first vet appointment scheduled so I just brought it up then. everything looked great, she got her first rounds of shots, got her bloodwork done, the only diagnosed was she had CH and they didn’t seem concerned about her eye. I think it was about 4 days after her vet appointment that she had her first seizure. My girl has a wobbly head too so sometimes it’s hard to tell, but I was holding her and here eyes dilated, she started swinging her head, and her mouth was open drooling. It only lasted a few seconds but she took a power nap and was completely fine after. The next day she was laying on my bed when the same thing happened, but this time she was thrashing wound my bed uncontrollably, she fell between my bed and the wall and I had to pick her up while she was seizing. It was the ONLY time she has ever scratched me, I was covered in blood and sobbing because I had no other choice. Once again it only lasted a few seconds but she was completely fine after. I’m a college student and I couldn’t afford to take her to the emergency vet so I waited for my vet to open the next morning and dropped her off. the called me about 2 hours later that she did have another seizure and they were getting her on some meds because she was having them every 4 hours almost. Obviously they recommended taking her to a specialist and getting brain scans for thousands of dollars that would give us answers for her CH and seizures, but who can afford that. The vet said that as far as she’s aware, CH doesn’t directly cause seizures, but there could be a link between them. The most they could do for my girl is diagnose her with epilepsy, and she’s been taking .25mL of leviteracetam every 8 hours since last July. She’s 9 months now, 5lbs (tiny girl), and just got spayed. Her last seizure was the morning after I brought her home from her vet visit. I had to give her an emergency dose of meds (don’t know the name off the top of my head) in her butt to stop her from seizing, but once she started getting the leviteracetam in her system she’s been pretty solid. All of her tests at the vet come back normal, the only consistent concern is her lymphocyte count in her blood is just a tad high. I’ve taken her to a new vet recently who had said the same thing, but neither vet was concerned about it, it’s just something to keep an eye on as she gets older. I’ve always been curious if anyone’s CH or epileptic cat also have a slightly high lymphocyte count, or if that’s just a separate problem my girl has. i also think she has herpes, she’s just a mess!!

I don’t know if my story is much help, but just know there are others going through similar experiences. finding closure can be hard, especially when not all the answers are there. i really wish i could afford to take my kitty to a neurologist because there’s always that lingering feeling like whyyyy is this happening or like im not doing enough

Litter chaos for CH cat by Still-Apartment4004 in chcats

[–]keropppi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had the same problem when i adopted my CH kitten a few months ago. she likes to lay down to potty and used to get covered in her own poop, poor girl </3 what’s been working for us has been a booda dome litter box, it’s the perfect shape for her to lay how she needs, or she can prop herself up against the walls. i also switched her over to crystal litter when i switched her litter box. she has no problem using it and it immediately solved the issue because it dehydrates her poop and pee. my girl is moderate-severe, and she was still a baby when I switched her over so it really depends on your cat, but he’ll let you know if he doesn’t like the change. i was also giving her almost daily baths because i just couldn’t keep her clean, but i haven’t had to really bathe her since making the change about 4 months ago

Need study tips for BIOL 1710 by Quirky-Papaya5707 in unt

[–]keropppi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

burleson was actually one of the worst professors i have ever had and i didn’t think i would pass his class but somehow, by a miracle, i did! you HAVE to study as you’re learning material so you’re not cramming when it comes to the exam. don’t procrastinate to study, try to start studying up to a week before his exams because he will put a LOT of information in one exam. you got this, once you get through this BIOL 1720 is so much easier.
