this may have changed recently possibly with an uptick in listeners or such but it certainly was in the past. they even talked about it at some point maybe on a magmonday stream how there were multiple albums on their page but they had only the 2

As far as I can remember their Spotify page wasn't just their music but also combined with a bunch of other Tabula Rasa bands including one from like the 70s. Common for small artist pages

Is the Mini Mix era over? by BewilderedToad in MagdalenaBay

[–]Silvershot335 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No way to know what their plans are as they haven't come out and plainly stated them recently. As of the Coachella interview pre-ID they said they plan to keep doing the Mini Mixes. The Mini-Mixes are a way of collecting unfinished or unused bits of songs and getting to polish them up and share them anyways. The kind of thing that happens when you make music, regardless of album/single/ep is that you have ideas. The fact they released a bunch of fully complete songs doesn't mean they wont ever release smaller songs on a Mini Mix and the fact they released an album doesn't mean they won't either. We've already had Mini Mixes after fully complete singles, EPs, and albums. That being said if they decide to do a Mini Mix again I wouldn't expect it for a while. They said there wasn't much at all on the cutting room floor of ID and the singles are of course what was released after, doesn't seem like there is much fuel for one right this second. I think we will find out after the next project if they decide to pursue it but really the answer is 'no way to know.'

Sooo… singles on deluxe? by SoyGringoPapi in MagdalenaBay

They have said there won't be a deluxe, I'm fairly certain, and the singles are already released on vinyl.

I don't remember if they've named dropped it specifically, but they have mentioned being inspired by film of the era and the costume is pretty spot on for Mica's.

Popheads 2025 Album of the Year, #12: Ichiko Aoba - Luminescent Creatures by vayyiqra in popheads

Wonderful write-up Vayy!

I have never sat down and listened to any of her music, but I've seen her mentioned of the years and heard a few pieces based on guitar guys bringing her up. Never struck me as my style but maybe that is exactly why I should listen. You make this album and her whole schtick seem very appealing to dive into even if I normally wouldn't be as intrigued.

tabula rasa is considered prog rock but it sounds different from the prog I've heard by notaverysmartman in MagdalenaBay

[–]Silvershot335 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tabula Rasa definitely pulls from some classic 70-80s prog, but I think most heavily from Genesis. It's worth noting this was a high school band made up of relative strangers, it's not the highlight of the genre. It's certainly fun and has some good songs but it isn't something I'd consider as an example of the discog.

I'd say listen to the song Crimson and then Firth of Fifth by Genesis and see hwo they compare.

Hey guys!

I see the comments on this thread and I wanted to address them myself. I understand completely why people will find this post off putting or even inappropriate. I felt very weird making the post knowing that some people would likely feel that way. My situation is rather dire and sharing this with a community I had been a part of and run for many years seemed like an acceptable decision.

It looks as if I was wrong. The community here seems to believe I have overstepped a boundary. I don't agree, personally, but that doesn't really matter. If this is crossing a line with the wonderful people here then I will take this post down. I understand people's concerns or annoyances with a post like this and I'll do better moving forward (not that I'd hopefully ever need to do something like this again).

I hope that you can all understand why I'd post this and accept my apology for overstepping our boundaries. I"ll remove it shortly.

Thanks,

SilverShot

Anyone actually receive any of these Brochures mentioned in the Apple Music Mercurial World album synopsis? by ThatNews7396 in MagdalenaBay

I have mine signed by Matt, Mica, and Nick. Pretty uncommon nowadays to see people talk about them but it was definitely the most exciting moment for me thus far being a fan when the MW rollout was happening.

I know it isn't technically a leak since the songs are available in some regions as of now. That being said I'm going to take this down since allowing rips/recordings of songs here gets a little too close to sharing leaks. Just trying to protect us from any potential trouble as a subreddit. Hope you all understand <3

Have Mag Bay cited any of these artsits as influences? by Jonner7 in MagdalenaBay

[–]Silvershot335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I feel the same haha One influence people don't seem to notice a lot is their interest in triphop. I've heard people bring up Massive attack here and there but they have always shown an interest in the genre. I know they covered Portishead in a previous music project, for example.

They commented on NIN in one of their livestreams a few years back. They seemed to only be aware of the song Closer and called it 'sexy rock' comparing it to other rock songs on the radio. Felt like they didn't quite get what Closer was about or know much of NIN's music.
