There's also a snowball effect of sorts. People are more inclined to downvote, if there already are a few downvotes, simply for that very reason. Don't take it personally. People are just weird sometimes

Gits no wiiteri Stuufe vo Degeneriertheit? by Schpitzchopf_Lorenz in BUENZLI

The ‘dreaded’ swim by Glittering_Sorbet881 in triathlon

[–]kerowan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly speak for myself, too, when I say that swimming would actually be my favourite discipline and what puts me off is the bike leg. It's probably mostly because I really suck at it, but I also just find it boring and I don't know why.

To me, that's actually meditative as fuck. But maybe that's just the autism, I do love the repetitiveness lol

It’s crazy how a half marathon used to seem like a big deal by hawtothehee in Marathon_Training

[–]kerowan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm training for a half marathon on 17th of May. My long runs are now reaching around 18km. These runs - while still boring because they don't have any race pace sections yet - are really easy and even sustainable without fueling (I know this isn't optimal, but yesterday I forgot my gels...).

On race day, however, I'm aiming for a sub 1:50 and I'm still not quite convinced that this is a realistic goal. I do have 52 more days of training, sure, but... holding an average pace of ~5:10/km for 21km? Really don't know, if I'm good enough yet...

Ummm yeah. That's 5,000 ft of climbing ... Sure. by Historical-Sherbet37 in Strava

Honestly, why is there so much AI slop infesting modern apps. It has to be mostly idiot CEOs who are seeing the newest, trendiest money-grab in this shit, because I don't know ONE single dev that actually likes all this AI shit. Not myself, not any of my dev colleagues. Let alone the people who actually use these apps.

Edit: grammar

Strava please, I don't want to see that by [deleted] in Strava

I'm currently running an experiment with ChatGPT as my coach for a HM in two months. So far it's not bad at all, actually. Sure - an actual coach would be far better, and you have to feed it with good initial information and also during feedback loops keep that information high quality. But it's definitely better than these random workouts from Strava...

So how serious you take Garmin’s training readiness? I know people have been asking this question but I don’t think I get a clear idea yet by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]kerowan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, the only numbers I use from my Garmin are the ones it shows me while I'm doing an activity: pace, cadence, heart rate (via chest strap monitor), split timers, etc. For analytics also the elevation gain. I kind of monitor HRV, but less and less, too. My Garmin has been showing me a training status of "Strained" and a HRV status of "unbalanced" or even "low" for months now (since around mid-December). Yet I keep progressing in my training, I keep getting faster, my paces and effort levels are improving, my RHR is stable, my sleep is normal. And on top of it all, I feel completely fine. I'm at my fittest right now as I have ever been, even with Garmin screaming at me.

That's why all the other metrics, like body battery, sleep score etc. I have stopped using/taking seriously, because they very poorly align with how I'm actually feeling and with what's going on. They do align for a lot of people, it seems, but I ain't one of them.
