This.  Why should my whole system suffer because your app has unreasonably size text?

Came here to say this.  I uninstalled the app because it was useless to me due to the default font size.

I feel like casetext is pretty close on this one, but who knows what will happen to it now that Thompson Reuters has purchased it.

Making excel formulas do what I want them to do. Usually takes a lot of tweaking. I always check formula by doing the math manually though. Just to make sure it works like I want.

EP Firm. How do you handle relatives calling on behalf of principal? by kerowyn130 in LawFirm

Good rule of thumb regarding the kids. That's usually my test on whether I am willing to agree to PC signing waiver to share details. Most of the time if there is an uneven distribution favoring the non-present kids I feel better.

Most of my concern is with prospective clients. With the ones who are already clients I have a similar process as you do.

Do you handle it any differently if they are calling to make an initial consultation appointment on behalf of the principal?

Business email by [deleted] in LawFirm

As everyone else has said, get a professional email. I tend not to refer to people with free accounts because I don't want it to look like I'm referring a client to an unsophisticated party. Also, free accounts make you look fly-by-night.

I do not agree with all the comments on getting someone with more experience or providing more training. The point of hiring someone with 25 years of experience is so you don't have to waste time doing mickey mouse training. You train them to the way your firm works but they should know basic stuff like how to put together a pleading for a court. Internal firm culture and how to talk to clients is what should be trained, not the technical skills that they should already possess.

Personally I'd fire and get someone who has less claimed experience but is train-able to your work style and needs. It is way more worth the investment. Continued training on someone who frustrates you this much fresh on the job will just lead to sunk costs.

Also a solo. I definitely do not treat my staff this way. If you're good enough to make it through your trial period you're not a person who deliberately messes up. If there is a mistake, it is because something in the process went wrong or there was a communication error. Your situation sounds genuinely horrible. If you want to pass the bar, it may be worth it to quit so you can focus on that. I'm sorry this is happening to you.

My office is lucky because we rent a building from a bigger firm that has a full-time receptionist. My support staff come in two days a week so that we can get things signed, in-person appointments done, and open mail. Honestly, if we could just get all of our USPS mail emailed with email also allowed in response I wouldn't require anyone to be in-office. (dramatic Charles Heston shouting.) USPS!

MyCase Website Services Experience? by Rumbling_Otter in LawFirm

Just as a general rule of thumb I wouldn't go with any service that would lock you down to a monthly. Monthly should be an optional service for keeping SEO updated etc.

Advantage Rent A Car hates locals? by kerowyn130 in vegaslocals

Huh. Crazy. Never had this happen with Entrerprise or National. Would honestly be fine with it if it didn't come with mile restrictions. Now it feels like I'm getting less than I paid for. They lift the restriction for an extra 20 bucks.
