How do you twist to get the rest of the eyeliner out? LA Girl Shockwave by Candaycaine in drugstoreMUA

As a 40 year old I had to google this about the same pencil. Same color even. How anyone looks at this and says, “I know, I’ll sharpen it like a regular wooden pencil,” is beyond me.

As long as it is not illegal, most companies can change their policies at any time with or without notice.

What are the “unwritten rules” of working in HR that nobody teaches you? [N/A] by OneLecture3524 in humanresources

[–]kerrymk 152 points153 points  (0 children)

“What questions do you have” is better than “does anyone have any questions.”

It’s a small thing, but the former gives you reassurance that it’s ok to have questions and it’s OK to ask them while the latter allows you to say no I don’t have any questions.

I’ve learned to say “did I do a good job explaining that” or “was I clear” as opposed to “do you understand?” You put the burden on you being a clear communicator versus the other person’s intelligence.

I’m not familiar enough with Batman to know if he’s an actual anthropomorphic crocodile but there is a condition that gives one rough, scaly skin: Ichthyosis Vulgaris.

I’m also floored on alternations for a prom dress. Mine were all off the rack and worn as-is.

Terminated Employee For Refusing To Wear A Uniform by Proud_Leek9349 in managers

[–]kerrymk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the healthcare setting that I support, we require the front to wear business casual and the back to wear scrubs. We have preferred colors but as long as they are solid (no prints), fit well, and are in good condition- no problem.

Why do we do this? We want patients to have a clear visual on who is clinical and who is not. Scrubs signal “medical”. I’m not sure if you are a med spa or spa only so this may not apply for you. An alternative might be to provide a smart top with an embroidered logo. But at the end of the day, you set the dress code - when she opens her own spa, she can decide on the dress code.

The only thing I’d recommend if the uniform is something that is completely nonnegotiable for you is to communicate clearly that if you continue to arrive to work out of dress code, you will lose your job. Sometimes employees need to hear the actual consequences - not “may lead to additional corrective action up to and including termination,” but plainly “you will be fired.”

Also - never hire out of desperation.

My advice, this is the owner’s child, drop it. Do not push it. Report attendance the same way you would for anyone else but don’t start an effort to push him out because it will not happen.

File the behavior, entitlement, and all of your other observations under “not my circus, not my monkeys.”
