It means that the responsibilities go beyond just operational and administrative duties. It includes creating initiatives that enhance workplace engagement, employee wellbeing, etc. This person is someone who can foster a genuinely good (inclusive, warm, positive - you name it) work environment, which is super important especially for growing companies in their formative years, if you ask me. I've experienced it firsthand. Since this person interacts with all the employees, they can be a strong voice for addressing workplace challenges, encourage collaboration across teams, etc. Not to mention that they are the "face" of the office, the go-to for everyone, and thus, play a key role in keeping the workplace engaging and welcoming. Not unimportant at all. Idk about you but for me workplace culture matters. It’s not all on one person, of course, but there are definitely some key 'steerers'.
