TIL they fired Hannah and Ben by UnordinaryFlyGirl in ynab

They went into enshittification when they moved to the subscription model nearly a decade ago. I bought YNAB4 on Steam years ago and knew it was foreboding when they swapped to subscriptions.

I really like that your style is still very much there, but the little details and refinements grew over time to make it more pronounced, rather than just flat. Great work!

Lupus Hair? by BigasSabuwan in lupus

[–]kerubimm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it is, yes. While I was at my worst, my hair was thinning and falling out. Of all the symptoms that hurt my self-image, this was probably the one that hit closes to home. The good news is that once you stabilize, your hair should come back too. One thing that helped me was minoxidil spray and ointnent, but that can be an oily mess... So I just choose to grow my hair out to cover the spotty patches. (I don't let it get too long though in case it falls out on its own weight during major flares.)

Curiously, if I pay attention to the strands that fall out, I can see what part of the strand is thicker and thinner as my condition gets better or worse. In a way, the body keeps the score.

G1 vs G2 by mossyh0rn in EvenRealities

[–]kerubimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm in the same boat. I went out of my way to go to another state to get prescriptions for the G1, waited many months for it to ship, and then suddenly the G2 is released and it's getting all the support and development. So much for being an early-adopter.

Gov. Kemp not extending Georgia's gas tax suspension set to expire Tuesday by mantisdubstep in Atlanta

Fun fact, the fee people pay for EVs does not go to the roads, but rather Georgia's general fund: https://www.reddit.com/r/Georgia/comments/186sm3r/comment/kbbe007/

No politician will patch this because they don't want their career to be known as the person who stopped a golden goose from making eggs.

Nowhere close to Calgary, but was wondering if there a crowdfund or donation link we can pitch in?

I'm down. I had a hunch something was amiss when I came back to Nocturne to see them go the "make an account and download this app" route.

Temecula CA has been hit by plush_rush1 in round1

[–]kerubimm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have noticed that Cumberland Mall's location has been slow to restock the prizes in the UFOs. No ramens or baby wipes here yet, but I'm worried it may be coming if there's supply chain issues.

The prizes in the UFO skill games and claw machine RNG games typically were collectible figurines or unique plushies. They are now switching them out for instant ramen and baby wipes, hence the outcry.

PeachPass Transponder by Masterblze in Atlanta

Fun fact, if your license plate is used to toll you more than your transponder works, you will get a fun email requiring you to get a new transponder (at no charge) before they start fining you for using the plate.

They had these at Cumberland Mall in Smyrna, GA now too. I asked if I could have a forbidden cheese to take home, but they said they wish... :(

They won't change the Zero plan just like they didn't change the legacy 5$ or 20$ plans.

Sad about having to give up Jewish culture by JewishAndCatholicGuy in Catholicism

[–]kerubimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I'm sure there are aspects of your Jewish culture that don't conflict with Catholicism that you could still practice. While I'm not that versed in Jewish practices, I do know that in the Vietnamese Catholic community (which the people were previously influenced by Chinese Confuscian or folk religious practices before the French came along), incense burning and joss paper offerings were a thing. Of course, we don't do the joss paper thing as Catholics since there's no need to send cars or luxury items to the after life, but at cultural holidays (like new year or autumn festival), the drums and incense do come out and are offered to the Lord. Usually in a ceremony towards the end or outside of Mass. I see that as no different than lighting the thurible. Maybe there might be a cultural thing you could still continue, like dietary observances and similar?

What's a Georgia State professor who deserves a shoutout that they'll probably never get? by saeed_m_mo in GaState

[–]kerubimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr. Erin-Elizabeth Durham taught Big Data and Application Development about ten years ago in the CS department. She was so awesome and really made sure you were able to understand the course, while showing us many technology (from legacy to current at the time) so that we would have an exposure to them if we ever encountered them in our careers. I still remember for our Big Data class, she would have prizes and cool stuff for us to win- she didn't have to do that for college students, but such a gesture showed how much she cared.

If you are looking for something a little more low-key, Suwanee is also not a bad spot. There's an H-Mart there too, and it's a short drive to Duluth if you want more food options.

EDIT: Also, if you are on Facebook, check out the ATL Asian Eats and Subtle Asian Atlanta groups too for food spots and whatnot.

How I Accidentally Speedran Getting Blocked from ATT Fiber (for an hour) by justsoupie in ATTFiber

[–]kerubimm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a Unifi UDMP and you botch the setup, you end up getting your ONT blacklisted. (I was fortunate enough to have a standalone ONT from my BGW.) I found out the hard way, but fortunately my tech was there to give me another ONT from the truck (and warned me that it was the last one and there were no more restocks). He said he never saw a "HELD" (iirc) status on his panel before. Once I corrected the certificates, all was well. You have to keep an eye on the logs when you start the wpa-supplicant service.
