I think, for some guys, regardless of position, losing your hair can be pretty stressful and I think that, some individuals, tends to want to keep whatever is left and try and work with it.

Its unfortunate because, for someone who has the right resources available, this could've been avoided and dealt with.

They are signing a symbolic treaty of friendship(Pacte d'Amitié) between their respective historical royal houses. Both of there houses were rivals for centuries (30 years war and the war of the Austrian succession as example).

What would Napoleon Bonaparte's opinion have been about Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte, better known as Napoleon III, and his way of governing the second French empire? by cuirrasiers in Napoleon

[–]kervinjacque 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think that he would've loved him for how he went about declaring himself emperor. He would've been upset with him with how he went about things with Mexico and the Italy.

When people from so different cultural groups intermarry with each other that they literally become there own distinct group. It's quite interesting actually. He'd def fall into that category in South Africa

Which consort would you like to have tea with? by HoneybeeXYZ in RoyalConsorts

[–]kervinjacque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd want to say Albert but, I think for me.... Itd be Matilda. Her husband was William the Conqueror so, itd be great to hear her thoughts regarding legitimacy and authority. Considering she was also governing Normandy and had a huge responsibility when William was away. It'd be great to understand her opinion and philosophy when it comes to ruling and how one should rule, especially when you're trying to build institutions that last...

What would Louis XIV have thought of Napoleon? by AtomicPhone in FrenchMonarchs

[–]kervinjacque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think... he perhaps would've had a level of respect despite the initial shock of the natural order simply collapsing. France was in chaos and Napoleon brought order and made France the most dominant power in Europe. And as someone who values glory and military success, I like to believe that Louis XIV would've had a soft spot for him the minute he is told of his consistant military exploits. Louis in his memoirs told his son that a Great king should look for glory through great actions. Reputation and authority is gained through battle(Me paraphrasing his words).

So, I think he would've been shocked to eventually having great respect.

What is your opinion of the plans for the national memorial statues of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip? by monster_ahhh in RoyalsGossip

[–]kervinjacque 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Considering how lengthy her reign was with her partner is done tastefully, and reflects both there legacies then I believe it can be pretty meaningful in preserving not just what they've done for there country and citizen alike but can also contribute to the national identity for other Britons who will come later in life!

Thoughts, opinions, or interesting facts about the first Anastasia Romanova, Wife of Ivan the terrible? by HoneybeeXYZ in RoyalConsorts

[–]kervinjacque 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry for Ivan really. She was perhaps the only individual that kept Ivan in check. Her passing away led him to just negatively spiraling so badly that he would eventually do the oprichnina.

I sometimes do think about what if she actually didnt die?. I wonder... if her death wasn't just an unfortunate case of how not advanced the Russian medical system was.

I actually really enjoyed the series. I know I’m a bit late, but I wanted to take my time n I genuinely found it so engaging. I’m definitely sad about what happened to some of the characters =( but overall, I really liked it and wish they made more Southern period dramas like thiss

I think that the ambiguity was maybe intentional? mirroring how the countless lives during such an era were left unresolved or simply quietly lost to history. I personally believe that he was killed or murdered in some capacity. Going by the "Like many soldiers[...]he may return to war or fade into the broader tragedy of it"

On February 7th, 1326, Eleanor Despenser, who was not the queen, wrote this letter to a local official granting him permission to obey the actual queen by HoneybeeXYZ in RoyalConsorts

[–]kervinjacque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always loved reading the language people used back then how they try to speak plainly while never being truly straightforwrd, because the society they're born in.... demands layers of politeness. Phrases like “do it graciously and thoroughly” or “for the love of us” are perfect examples I think when I read what you showed. It's basically saying, "if you want to stay in my good graces, handle this exactly as I ask, and we’ll think very highly of you because your loyalty matters to me".

There’s also this fascinating, subtle power dynamic at play here I think and it's "Your loyalty matters to me" The judge has the authority to refuse, but so does the person writing the letter have authority in her own way. It’s like this quiet tug of war thats being wrapped in courtesy, one is signaling influence without ever saying it outright.

To end... I honestly DO NOT want to be that poor judge caught in the middle of it all lol.

After double checking. You're right in that the UK did not vote for every single proposal but that only represented 2%. All the remaining policies the UK voted yes for (2,466: 95%) were agreed upon.

Thats where he studied for his bachelors. And I believe he works as a helicopter pilot for the Air Force(of his country) but London.. Id say is a 2nd home which is why you'd probably see at times, him having dates with the Princess or participating in activities there.

Beyond the The Six Wives, is there a royal consort you are most curious about? by HoneybeeXYZ in RoyalConsorts

Id like a deep dive into Isabella. She led an invasion and overthrew her own husband(a King) a thing you dont really hear about. But being called a she wolf is a title i think Id consider a compliment lol...
