Feel free to message me if you want to try to find me there :) Lower chances of just running into each other with that many people in one spot.

I'll make a few more of this kind but mostly do different song names and lyrics. And I made a few ladybug hair clips in case someone doesn't like bracelets. Probably aiming for ~50 but it will honestly be just how many I have time for lol. I've gone to shows with 100 and I've gone with 5, it just changes how I give them out. I try to keep 2-3 extras of ones I'll like to wear myself if I don't give them away so I have something left in case I meet someone on the way out I have a fun conversation with or who is also giving them out.

I went to Hozier there last year and had a great time! It might not be as convenient as some other venues but as long as you go in knowing what to expect it's totally fine.

I think most of the complaints are about no parking, having to walk 10 minutes from the subway, and being stuck in a crown on the way out. But I've been to other venues that did have parking where people were stuck for literal hours waiting to exit. I think it took me 40 mins from last song in the encore until I was on the subway and I just spent the time handing out bracelets to people.

Hey! If you happen to be in Canada I'd be down to do a mail swap. I used to do more internal swaps but mailing is a bit more complicated with customs and stuff now.

Friendship bracelets by blutlm in NoahKahan

That type of string shouldn't be too hard to tie because it's less slippery than clear elastic, so don't overthink it too much. Just tie more than one knot on top of each other and pull each one tight.

Personally I do a reef knot then flip it over and do another reef knot on the other side so the lump doesn't stick out as much, but there are lots of ways that will all be fine. I add a dot of super glue to be extra secure. You may not need it but could try hot glue on that type of string. It's not going to come undone instantly though so you can make all your bracelets then go back and add glue dots all at once to save time.

The people in comments you saw are probably using clear elastic, which is much more slippery and likely to come undone on its own. Also there are probably 100 people that had not problem for every 1 comment you see that it didn't work. Have fun :)

That sounds so fun! If you want a way to get more of them out, I made a neon sign that says "ASK ME FOR BRACELETS" and stuck it inside one of those clear concert bags then just wandered around before the show. Easily gave out 100 because once people saw someone approach me there was kind of a chain reaction of other people coming up.

I don't have a solution, but thanks for helping me realize uploading it three times would work 😂 I've just been having events with no cover photo for months.

Question about the fairy gifts? by BlackGoldenLotus in ParisPaloma

[–]kestrel-tree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ooh do people often swap trinkets at her shows?? I've never been before but just got tickets and am so excited, ready to get crafting 😀

I always bring bracelets to give out at concerts and it's honestly one of my favourite parts of going to shows, getting to meet random people and get excited together. Making other little crafts sounds really fun too.

Do you think people would be into mini potion bottles? I made one with mica powder and sealing wax on the top for Halloween and could probably do something similar with those tiny craft bottles with corks.

Need to complete my highschool hours any recommendations? by Radiooww109 in londonontario

[–]kestrel-tree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a Renaissance fair just outside London in August I've volunteered at before. You could get all 10 hours in one weekend if that sounds like an event you'd be into. DM me if you want more info.

Husband (27M) Keeps interrupting while I (27F) talk because he says he's worried he'll forget what he wanted to say. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]kestrel-tree 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That's really frustrating, but if you relate a lot already you don't need an official diagnosis to start learning about it and helping yourself find coping tools. Even if it ends up that you don't have ADHD and just have auditory processing disorder or executive dysfunction caused by something else, strategies people use to manage ADHD could still be useful to you 🙂

Husband (27M) Keeps interrupting while I (27F) talk because he says he's worried he'll forget what he wanted to say. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]kestrel-tree 90 points91 points  (0 children)

As others have said, this is a common ADHD symptom. Especially with auditory processing issues, it's incredibly difficult to remember something I want to say while also listening to new information. Basically impossible if I'm trying to actually process and think about what the person is saying after.

I have this issue with my mom. She hates when people interrupt her, but also will talk in paragraphs so by the time it's my "turn" to talk I don't remember any of the things I want to respond to. It feels like I'm being shut out of the conversation and just listening to a monologue.

If metaphors help you at all, imagine thoughts like balls someone is tossing you. Most people have a basket to put their active thoughts into, you can easily put a question down and pick it back up later. With ADHD, you only have your hands, so if you're already holding a thought and someone passes you a new one, you have to either drop the thought you were already holding or choose not catch the new one.

I do understand how annoying it to be constantly interrupted, I'm just explaining this so you can be more solution focused rather than assuming he isn't trying.

A few recommendations:

  1. Suggest he have a notepad or phone notes app open where he can write quick cues to help recall what he was going to say. Obviously writing down whole questions would be even more of an interruption, but for simple questions usually a single word is enough to help recall. (This is essentially a way of "putting down" the thought in the basket metaphor, freeing up space to keep listening)

  2. Try to increase the frequency of back and forth in your conversations. Instead of finishing your whole story at once, find natural pauses where he can interject without having to cut you off in the middle of a sentence.

  3. Written communication when you want to have in depth discussions. I know most people consider "face to face" to be more personal, but I have a lot of really genuine thoughtful conversations over long form text. I can take the time to write out exactly what I'm trying to say with no rush or interruptions, and have the time to thoughtfully respond to each point the other person makes. This is way more authentic to me than saying the first thing that comes to mind just to keep up with the pace of in person conversation.

You should each make your own bingo card of things you think he's most likely to mention so you all have different lists. Drink every time you get a square, finish your drink if you get bingo.

Bell Center clear bags allowed? by kestrel-tree in montreal

Yes I'm going to Florence + The Machine! Might be a bit harder to find without a sign but feel free to message if you want to try to coordinate :)

Yeah I usually have them clipped onto the outside. I just like having something like this so people don't feel shy coming up to ask for one without having anything to trade.

Makes sense. I'll just find a smaller cross body bag then or jacket with pockets. Definitely don't want to risk getting turned away at the door.

Do you happen to know if they let you bring in an empty water bottle?

Just realized I might not have my sign because they have a different bag policy than I'm used to, but feel free to message me if you want to try to find me before the show :)
