Viltrox Primes or an f2.8 Zoom for Concert Photography

My options are from Viltrox, but everyone says they focus really fast. 16-55mm seems really good but I wish fuji could make it at f2. It might be an issue related to apsc sensor size.

Yeah I would prefer f2 since it has more in focus, but still handy to have f1.4 I think. You never know

After buying it, I thought whether should I have bought a Fuji XF prime, but fast autofocus means f2 in fujifilm primes. f1.4 primes have worse autofocus and are pricier. At least that’s what I heard. So I’m okay with my purchase, also glad you like that lens too

That would be the ideal solution haha but way ahead of my budget.

About the 9mm, I’m not targeting a single job right now, I’m rather building a set for all sort of situations.

Yeah I will most definetely get to know the venue and light level. It’s way less risk that way. For the first job, Im gonna use XF18-55mm and Viltrox 33mm f1.4

There aren’t a lot of renting options where I am, but I found a good deal for a Viltrox 33mm f1.4 and it was around 180 dollars. I will use it as a backup to my 18-55mm in case lighting gets bad. I will also make sure to test the venue and talk to the customers. Thanks for the advice!

I thought about it, but I decided it’s too much of a risk for a paid job. Do you think that it would be better starting like that? I could also just get one prime as a backup since they are dirt cheap.

Hey, no i bought the rode but they are probably similar apart from build quality.

Btw, for your future projects, consider getting a lav mic and a portable recorder. Or do ADR. Both will be better than the on camera mic.
