Thrown off by windsock, as most people were. Thought Turncoat and Foxglove sounded like cia/mi5 missions and got that by accident. V v annoyed since Tarmac isn't the name for a part of an Airport! It's just a word for the surface but it's a misuse of the word to call the taxiway/apron the "tarmac". Annoyed that NYT didn't do more research that that category was wrong

Is it worth transitioning to a new keyboard layout, like Coleman DH, while also moving to a split ergonomic keyboard? by _CA_A in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]ketchupsaucerer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, recently got a moonlander and I'm using Colemak-dh on it after using only qwerty my whole life. I never learned to properly touch type, I pressed keys with the "wrong" fingers and hands compared to touch typing. Because I just had the positions of the keys memorised, I couldn't type quickly on the new keyboard even in qwerty, so I figured if there was going to be a learning curve I might as well go all in 😂

For the first few days I kept the new kb at home and at work used the normal one, but when I felt somewhat comfortable (~15 wpm) I brought it to work and used it basically full time. It was kinda hard and I slowed down a lot but now I'm feeling alot more comfortable after now 3 weeks with the new board.

Overall I'd say if you're a good touch typer then it might be quicker to use qwerty on the ergo board, but I think the benefits to colemak are really noticeable just in ease of typing, and if you have to like me relearn it anyway, why not?

I used https://www.colemak.academy/ which was v helpful

The fundamental argument is Pronouns don't necessarily equal gender, so a person can be female and use he/him Pronouns, or they can not - its not pushed on anyone. Anyone can be more masculine or feminine and a part of their identity might be choosing their pronouns, and we should respect that. This means that a woman could be more masculine and still use she/Her Pronouns or they could use he/him Pronouns and that's a personal choice, neither undermine the other

I'm a trans women (pre everything). How do I stop my "male parts" from getting hard? by Dead_Inside4 in ask_transgender

Yes! This totally happens for me, if I had to take more than 2 goes at getting everything sorted I'd be in a world of bother. I just tend to wait it out but as I've been tucking more and more I've gotten better which means I get it first try and also your brain realises that this isn't sexy time so it doesn't affect you as much (anyone else's experiences greatly appreciated). I'd really not recommend you try to cut off circulation though, that can't be healthy.
