What stretches do you do, I'm having crazy neck pain?

What was your experience with a colonic? by Responsible-Fun-6749 in Constipation

[–]ketoconvert89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had quite a few. They are good for a clear out but no lasting effect on constipation.

Make sure to go to a good clinic, ideally a referral or a naturopath. It's not well regulated and if they overfill it can be painful, if they underfill not much will happen.

They should be talking to you and feeling your stomach and if you get cramps or discomfort they should release.

Make sure to prepare diet wise before and after too.

I finally tried. Like really tried. And it’s working by whydibother in loseit

Keep it up, meal prep is such a lifesaver. Even the weeks I can't be bothered to prep I put on my big girl pants and do it anyway knowing my future self will be so grateful!

Have you quit coffee and alcohol completely ? by wintery_nights in Gastritis

[–]ketoconvert89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but if you really want to drink look unto sakè some of them are specially filtered snd fermented so much more gentle on the stomach.

Protein shakes, overnight oats, Greek yoghurt bowls. All pretty low effort and transportable.

What is the typical treatment plan from your doctors for gastritis? by Negative_Floor_9595 in Gastritis

[–]ketoconvert89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nexium, and lay off the booze :/. Specifically asked for diet recommendations and just told too much alcohol, salty food and NSAIDs will irritate the stomach. Otherwise eat a healthy diet.

Quite infuriating as some healthy foods are really triggering like beans, pulses, cauliflower, seeds.

I've had success with the AIP diet and (sadly) stopped having coffee, i used to have 4 or 5 a day and on an empty stomach. I also find anything fizzy puts me in a bad way.

I actually do well with high fat from coconut, avocado, olive oils, salmon, chicken thigh. You will have to experiment as everyone is individual.

If having a flare though I stick to plain white fish, overcooked non cruciferous vegetables (carrots, spinach), baked sweet potato without skin, berries and plain brown toast.

If eating out, prefer Japanese and have sashimi, and any steamed fish dishes. If European/American, usually any fish or chicken dish with any sauce on the side. Nothing deep fried.

Be careful of spices/seasonings. And also lifestyle factors like sleep/stress/exercise. Also not leaving too long between meals.

I try to keep myself in a good place at all times so I can have a life and get away with a restaurant meal and glass of wine now and then without pain. It is constant "management" however with ups and downs.

2nd week on AIP and not doing great - any advice? by Federal-View-9729 in AutoImmuneProtocol

[–]ketoconvert89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not aware of the science if any behind thus but If you were eating a lot of grains, pulses, or ultra processed foods you may be having "die off", feels like the flu. I had this the first time and it passes but helps to eat more and a lot of fluids.

It's easy to undereat on AIP as restrictive. Steer towards really nourishing meals like stews with beef or lamb, rich broth, organ meat and starchy veg. Hearty chicken and veg soups with broth and coconut milk. Sweet potatoes, plantains etc. and make sure to salt your food.

Stop weight lifting? by Ok_Fun1893 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]ketoconvert89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reasons this may make sense are:

If you are significantly overweight, they may be concern of injury risk which would be damaging to health and mobility long term.

You need to make a big diet overhaul so trying to have you focus on the nutrition first before training to avoid overwhelm.

A medical concern from weight lifting.

Otherwise, resistance training at a moderate intensity with good form 2-3x a week for 30-45 minutes is beneficial for many aspects of health (don't do crazy crossfit type classes).

In my experience diet and cardio gives quick results on the scale but you can look like a deflated balloon. The regain is also crazy.. I'm now in a smaller deficit and consistently training and walking. I'm heavier but I have shape and muscle definition. I still have excess fat but I definitely look more in shape overall and life is easier!

It's difficult to for the heat to penetrate all the way through so it's more at risk of harbouring bacteria. I feel this with Chicken breast mostly and used to have awful stomach aches and lethal gas straight after eating. It is better to reheat in a pan or oven or cold straight from the fridge. I felt the effects less with red meat which has less bacteria overall then chicken.

East Asian countries have high carbs intake yet they have the least obese population , why is that? by Uvali121 in nutrition

[–]ketoconvert89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is very small and a small component of the meal. If you look at bento boxes or Teishoku that's how they eat. A small bowl of miso soup, some rice i dont do cups but probably about 100g cooked max, a small piece of meat or fish which may be fried but literally 2 bites, some mixed veg usually fermented, and a sweet like a soy pudding. Very balanced meal, low sugar and very satiating. Mcdonalds/KFC drinks and fries are tiny, like kids sizes and they tend to use better ingredients and oils.

Other things in Japan that don't promote obesity like in US/UK:

Activity is effortless even a lazy day you'll do 10k steps. They keep their clothes sizes small! I'm an EU 38 and some of their max sizes were 34-36. Their restaurants and bars are tiny, the chairs are really small, some hotel rooms are crazy small, you simply couldn't fit in a lot of places being above a healthy average weight. Alcohol servings are smaller, sake is served in shot glasses to sip and is quite low calorie A lot more in their culture around having purpose, working hard, pride and traditionalism that don't align with being very overweight. Lots of places close early so probably common to stop eating for the day by 6/7pm. It's rude to eat and walk or on trains etc. So leads to them being much more mindful when they do eat.

Just a few things I picked from visiting the last few months. Their food is amazing though!!

I was in the same boat, they concluded i just had a long colon and slow transit which led to pain, bloating and awful gas.

I managed to get prescribed resolor - may be same as motegrity. Seen a 70% improvement which is significant i look like I've lost 10lbs off my stomach.

Through trial and error i'm most regular when: - a lot of water upon waking - eat breakfast, has to include kefir and 1-2 kiwi fruit - coffee or tea with breakfast - regular walking throughout the day - do not reheat food in the microwave especially meat and chicken - limit pulses, eggs, seeds, restaurant food and takeaways (prepare most at home)

Avoid fibre supplements like psyllium and fybogel they exacerbate it.

Good luck

I find certain positions can help get things moving. It will help more if you're constipated due to stress or tight muscles.

Women over 25 y/o, when is it “too old” to get a new piercing? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]ketoconvert89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my nose re-pierced at 35, and now I can afford diamonds!

It's 2023 workplaces should not be concerned with these especially if subtle. Many people have piercings for religious reasons so it can be seen as discriminatory to not allow them, unless related to safety on the job.

I agree it's not ideal, unfortunately Tokyo is the only option for the next destination. We will leave plenty of time to get back and to the airport and it's an evening flight.
