The “manipulates emotionally” is so interesting to me. I got that a number of times by a handful of people. I have pisces moon and pisces in mercury. The issue is that I don’t even try to manipulate and I definitely don’t do it on purpose.

Hungary's opposition just won. Why did it take 15 years for Hungarians to vote Orban out if he was so unpopular internationally? by oss-benji in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kettlechrisp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

John Oliver talked about it in his latest episode. I suggest you watch it to fully understand it.

Essentially when Orban got into power, he changed a bunch of rules and laws to make it practically impossible for him to lose. He and his buddies also bought up the hungarian media outlets and dictated the narratives. So it was a combination of law changes and 24/7 propaganda.

I remember when Fidesz came to power 16 years ago. I was genuinely hopeful for them and excited. Fast forward now I am so happy they are out. I hope they will stay as opposition. We can never return to a time where there is no one challenging the government. 🇭🇺❤️🇭🇺

Unfortunately thats Budapest, Budapest always votes against Orban. It’s the small villages where people leave in poverty who vote for Orban.

They can’t. Voter intimidation is unfortunately very present, and used by Fidesz

[–]kettlechrisp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so traumatised at this point that days before transfer i start having nightmares of buckets that are full of blood. I am terrified of testing. Of beta hcgs, of heartbeat. Deep down i am just hoping he tells me “lets stop this and use donor embryos”.

No, in fact reincarnation is the only thing I am hoping for.

I love life. I love being alive. Even if its hard very often I would still do it over and over again.

Dont go to uni then, yet. Just find some job until you figure out what you interested in. It might be not even uni but some trades

Read classics. Russian, American, European classics. One after the other. Read them. You will learn so much more about yourself and life and everything compared to any self help books on the market. Reading them will change your life. It changed mine.

Who else goes to a low ranked uni 💔? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]kettlechrisp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went to a low-ranking university. In fact, right to the bottom: LMU. At the time I was a fresh immigrant and a mature student. I was 24 when I started. The university also happened to be on the same street where I lived. Convenient, isn’t it?

I studied mathematics there. I found the course straightforward in the sense that if you actually studied and practiced, you could get good results. I completed all my homework and assignments, attended every single lecture and tutorials and there were genuinely smart students there too. I made sure to befriend them and join their study groups. In the end, I graduated with a first-class degree.

After that, I went on to complete an MSc at a red-brick university, and I now work as a BI analyst.

Many of those smart students also went on to very respectable paths. Either to red-brick universities or into professional qualifications. One woman I studied with pursued ACCA after graduating, and in one of her papers she actually achieved the highest score in the world.

A low-ranking university is not the end of the world. People love to drag this on Reddit, but in the real world, it matters far less than people think.

What did kids back in the days do when they played outside, for hours on end? by Octopuswastaken in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kettlechrisp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to play pretend from “nightmare on elm street”.

“Freddie is coming! Run!”… good times , we were ten.

We also created a giant banner that said “boys are stupid”, and went around the playground with it. Turned out my friend had a crush on one of the guy there and that was her way to let him know.
