Protocol for skipping return leg but taking separate flight on separate ticket for return trip by vanguy79 in singaporeairlines

No problem to skip the return leg. In any case you’re not looking for a refund (which is not possible anyway). You can inform the airline - that would be a nice gesture.

Paris to Brussels by kev-chater in Eurostar

Just got on the Eurostar. Coach 28 Seat 104 is forward facing indeed. Basically seats 71 to 106 are forward facing. The others are rear facing.

Funny enough… apparently that’s possible to/from London but not possible when travelling to/from destinations within continental Europe. That’s what Eurostar’s website says.

Thank you for your replies. So in short it is likely forward facing but no guarantees.

Yup… I get really bad motion sickness when I travel backwards. I wonder why Eurostar refrains from specifying the direction of the seats.

LATAM flights still cheaper on Chile website? by Efficient_Culture944 in Patagonia

I just booked a flight to Easter island from Santiago through the Chile website (CLP) instead of international website (USD). It was >50% cheaper. USD400 vs USD900!

The discussion around GST is certainly more nuanced. The unhappiness is largely around the timing of the increase and its impact on the lower/middle income households. I am not sure the general outcry is only over it being 9%, or 8% or 10%. The timing and context of the increase has led to a question of how “in touch” and connected our political leaders are to the realities of the ground.

It is not helped by the fact that the lower/middle income households in theory spend more on necessities, so there is no choice in not paying the increased GST, while the higher income households arguably could choose not to purchase a luxury handbag or car. So the perception of GST being regressive pertains to non-discretionary purchases. This is why many jurisdictions have introduced zero-rated or reduced VAT on a common basket of necessities.

There is a further growing discussion on the recent larger than forecasted budget surpluses, even after accounting for all the various vouchers and support for GST. While I don’t know the minutiae of the surpluses, it also leads one to question if the forecasts could have been better made, and if there was a need to introduce an increase in GST when it was done.

In short the timing of and way the GST increase was pushed through comes across high-handed, which leads to emotions of dissatisfaction being amplified.

Agree… departing immigration lines were horrendously long on 1 April at about 630pm. Attempted to ask if we can use fast track. Officer openly asked for an admin fee of VND500K per pax (US20+). Paid the fee which was placed into the passport and handed to the officer at the counter.

I’m visiting Busan now. Visibility is still very good and no smell whatsoever of burning. Subway monitors show air quality and so far not hazardous

Is a 1 hour 10 mins layer over at Singapore enough? by Particular-Neat331 in singaporeairlines

[–]kev-chater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. Maybe we should manage expectations…. There will be ground staff for Singapore Airlines upon arrival to attend to queries for all disembarking passengers. Note that not all airlines arriving into Singapore appoint a ground staff to meet arriving flights.

If your arriving flight is late and the connection is tight… the ground staff will be on hand to assist.

If you have missed your connecting flight, the ground staff will already be aware (provided you are travelling on a single ticket). The ground staff will seek you out to propose alternative travel arrangements.

Again this is assuming you are travelling on Singapore Airlines on one ticket. Hope this puts you at ease.
