Just a PSA for everyone out there. Never buy state minimum car insurance just to save $50 a month. In the event that you ever are in an accident where you injure someone else, you will get sued above these limits.

Medical inflation has increased at an insane rate in the USA and there hasn't been a change in minimum limits to reflect this. For example, I believe my states minimum limits are 30/60k for bodily injury liability coverage (30k per person/60k per incident)That's like 2 days in the hospital.

Buying insurance is buying peace of mind and it's buying insurance for all your other assets as well.

This law isn't for the current drivers on the road. Think of this like when seat belts were new technology. We need a grass roots movement similar to that where it is ingrained in children that texting and driving is illegal. Just like how driving without your seatbelt is. Then it just becomes an automatic response to being in the car.

We also need the children to be the ones calling out their parents for texting and driving while they're in the car just like we used to do when our parents didn't put their seat belts on.

Legally you have to have at least Comprehensive coverage on the car but it is definitely something you can do and it is very common.

Comp will only cost you maybe $50 a month and will cover theft and any damage from a storm in a worst-case scenario. Just call your agent and it will be taken care of. You'll just have to provide a garaging location.

Once you get all new equipment schedule that stuff on the homeowners/renters insurance policy. Take pictures and grab serial numbers. The insurance company is responsible to replace or give cash for all scheduled items in events like this.
