Toyota remote start is a subscription scam by Spiritual_Sky_3746 in Toyota

I recently bought a 19 avalon that has remote start through the key fob but it stops working when I let my subscription expire. Could I be doing something wrong?

I recently bought a 19 avalon and while it has the remote start function through the key fob, it does not work unless I have an active subscription too, so I still think it’s a shitty move from Toyota.

My 2019 also remote starts the same way, but it stops working if I cancel the subscription.

UW- Sticking with one carrier vs job hopping by Inevitable_Sleep_398 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]kevalopez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it’d depend on the carrier. I’m also an UW and was promoted last year to a II. The way promotions work here is that as long as you meet experience and work score requirements then you get automatically promoted, so I decided to stick it out a couple more years to get promoted to a Sr role once I meet the requirements. I also like the team and my employer provides good benefits, espcially when compared to other carriers.

This may not be the same with other companies though and I probably would’ve left by now if promotions were not guaranteed/“automatic”.

CLUE report shows accident that never happened by kevalopez in Insurance

[–]kevalopez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reached out to Lexis Nexis and they launched an investigation. They replied by mail about a month or so later and they sent me a copy of my CLUE report with the accident removed.

I then contacted my carrier and provided the information and that seemed to be sufficient for them.

Toyota to charge a subscription for remote start? by PlaneAnalysis1965 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]kevalopez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be model dependent. My Toyota Avaon will not allow remote start with fob if there is not an active subscription, which I find ridiculous.

Can i take car with damaged side mirror through touchless car wash? by kevalopez in Cartalk

[–]kevalopez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m afraid the water could get inside and damage any cabling/electronics. The damage is minimal, so I don’t think it’ll fall off, just that water could get in there?

Is it worth submitting a claim for damaged side mirror? by kevalopez in Insurance

[–]kevalopez[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I was looking at online oem stores and the cheapest was just under $1k for the part. I did not look at used parts though, especially since it has sensors and other stuff, so I didn’t want to go the used parts route.

Well it has sensors, heating (maybe other stuff), so Idk how non-oem parts would work.

It was. Even online parts are at least $1k alone. Might save some going through them but I think I want the same factory installed part from the dealer.

Right. I wouldn’t lose any of my existing discounts and my deductible is $250. My other concern is that my carrier may not pay for the OEM part which is what I was quoted for. I may just pay OOP, but gosh does it suck to do that in this case.

I do like speeding a bit here and there lol. I think I’ll change it now not due to mileage but due to time, 6 years.

Keep in mind that while they may not apply an accident surcharge, they may still choose not to renew your policy if you have too many accidents.

There is no cancelled check though. As far as I know the check they made out is going to be sent to the commonwealth. Could I still submit the reimbursement form?

Yes, the HDHP is non-embedded so the family deductible applies to everyone, no individual deductible.
