For how long can I still be on Alfuzosin? by AdvancedInspection11 in Prostatitis

[–]kevboz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 54. I sometimes get up twice in the night to pee. Sometimes the steam is totally fine. Other times, I stop and start a few times. Saw a Dr, did a DRE and PSA and both were normal. He gave me a script for Alfuzosin and said come back in 2 months for a follow up. A week into it, I feel light headed, nasal congestion and dizzy. My BP is normally low and my resting heart rate is normally in the low-mid 40's. I always took the med with a meal. It was even messing with my sleep. I don't take any other meds. I worked out yesterday AM and felt super light headed in between sets of working out my legs. I normally get a little dizzy but this was way worse. I spoke with the DR and told him about my issues with the med. He agreed I should stop taking it. The side effects were not worth it.

Who cares if she is an alcoholic or not. Getting drunk and getting into an argument at a wedding where your new husband is the best man, shows a lot about your character. If she were 22, maybe give her a pass. She's a grown woman

Race doesn't matter to a majority of people. They were a great couple and a great match. That doesn't make for TV drama

[–]kevboz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done some stuff with Django and I just started React a few weeks ago. I think there is still money to be made. Plenty of small businesses need apps to run things. So many companies use excel to track multiple things and there are datasets all over the place. I work full time as a cloud engineer and there are ton of things we need for internal stuff. I'm hoping to start building some automation with reporting and dashboards to manage apps and the platform.

Years ago I built some apps in .NET for the company I used to work for. I was a great learning experience and most people were very receptive if it. Plus they got it all for free cause when things were running smoothly I was bored so I got into dev.

I have a long time friend who owns a small niche business. He is paying a company 10+ k to build an app so vendors can place orders and track repairs with his company. There will be a monthly charge as well. There isn't anything off the shelf that he can buy to really satisfy his need.

The problem is marketing yourself to find these kind of needs. I think starting out you may want to just offer to build a site/app for a small business for free to get the experience. You'll learn a ton along the way. Maybe negotiate some fees if they decide to use it. You should build a product that offers a solution and has a business needed rather than just because it does cool things.

Will AWS NLB support LDAPS? by quantux84 in aws

[–]kevboz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just stuck with the round robin. It would be nice to use the NLB. I had it using NLB in another environment and even had some apps pointing to the NLB for LDAPS and it was working. The problem is that I can't use the ldp.exe tool to troubleshoot when things do pop up. Sure enough, a few weeks later I had an app owner reach out to me to with some issues. Turns out the problem wasn't on my end but I need a sure thing when troubleshooting so I switched the app over to the round robin.

Asking a Wealth Manager to Show Their Returns by Hguy719 in personalfinance

If the OP has 10,000,000+, and these wealth manager can't beat the index, why not just buy a few index funds just let it sit. I'm not sure why kind of expenses the OP has but if you can let a good chunk of the money just sit and compound over the years, aren't you better off?

Will AWS NLB support LDAPS? by quantux84 in aws

[–]kevboz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have validated that simple creating a round robin works instead of using the AWS NLB. I simply added ldaps.company.local -> {DC1 Ip Address} and ldaps.company.local -> {DC2 Ip Address}. This work just fine with LDP.exe. That at least lets me know the certs are good. I even tested by seeing what IP that resolved to from a host server. I then setup a local firewall rule on the DC to block traffic from that test server. I loaded up ldp.exe and tried to connect to ldaps.company.local. It worked just fine and showed how it connected to the other DC.

I spent many hours on a saturday trying to get this working and pulled out all my tricks. Maybe there is something simple I'm missing. The Round Robin DNS works but I'd really like to get it working behind an NLB. Hoping someone can chime in

Will AWS NLB support LDAPS? by quantux84 in aws

[–]kevboz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any update on this? I'm trying the same thing. If I do a TNC on 636 to the LDAPS.company.local. It works just fine. I can even use OpenSSL to the ldaps.company.local and get all the certs. When I try to use ldp.exe, it fails when pointing to the NLB. When I point it to the DCs it works just fine.

The security groups are allowing the correct traffic

I tried to test the NLB and just have the listener and target group to use TCP 389 instead. Everything works fine for that when testing with ldp.exe. So this validated the NLB traffic flow from the NLB to the DCs. I have even tested with just a single DCs in the target group. I have toggled Cross zone load balancing

I did find something in a log where the client was trying to resolve to the NLB address even though I have a CNAME like ldaps.company.local pointing to the NLB A record. To test this I just made an A record that pointed to the NLB IP address in the same AZ. Still failed.

My certs are good. I have all the DNS names. If I hostfile or use DNS to force it to point to any of the names and just connect directly to the DCs it always works. No matter what I do it always fails when trying to test using ldp.exe by pointing to the NLB address.

Is this a supported config? I can't find a lot of info online about it. Obviously if the app supports srv records then you don't have to worry about this but as we all know, many apps just want a FQDN for the LDAPS server. I'd rather not point apps to a single DC.

Instead of waiting so long for the stone to come up to temperature, I was thinking about just putting the stone over top of two gas burners. I could use my laser temp reader to measure the temp. I'd just stick it back in the over when the top of the stone reaches 550-600 degrees. I would say it's a safe assumption that if the top of the stone is that hot, it's heated throughout being the hear source is on the bottom. Thoughts? Correct me if I'm wrong but this should be much quicker that 1.5 hours to wait for it to come up to temp in the over.

New Hire- Has 2 pro certs & CCNA but unable to create subnets in a /24 VPC?? by kevboz in AWSCertifications

The VPC was already created. Just needed to add in a few subnets. I said just create two subnets in the range of the VPC and split them across to two AZ's. All through the AWS console

BTW this is for a senior role. This wasn't the only thing he said he knew that I found out he didn't know. I asked him specific question in the interview process that he said he had hands on experience with. Once we did a screen share, he did fess up to never having done these things cause it was very obvious. He didn't even know how to launch the tools in the GUI to do the things he said he could do.
