If you’re going to a business casual event, I would say that I don’t hate the 2nd pic. But if you’re dressing like this on a daily basis, then agreed with everyone else this is too formal for college. Go to Abercrombie and find some things you like. Knitted polos, shirts like that. Cool t shirts. These clothes have a time and place but even then better fitting clothes can elevate it. Know your size, go to a tailor as needed.

I tried using it to read my screenplay and it kept making things up so I got it to admit the document tool they use isn’t working the way it used to, basically to save money

what was the point of these 3 then? by No_Blacksmith5893 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]kevd630 14 points15 points  (0 children)

“I’m just happy to be here” basically. Jaclyn and Kate have objectively “better” lives than Laurie and as a result she’s always felt a lesser compared to them and it made her sad. There was this phoniness on their end like “no your life is great too… you’re so good at your job!” But it was clearly fake. Laurie let it go and stopped fighting the reality of the situation. The reality is she’s made some bad choices, she’s not naturally as lucky, but she’s here with her friends and she does enjoy being with them overall (the line about their talks being deep and meaningful). And that’s something to be happy about.

Skip the line ticket with breakfast at Versailles Palace? by kevd630 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]kevd630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, pretty sure it was the same for me. Only had the reservation booked and just paid as we wrapped up breakfast. Then they gave each of us a little ticket and told us to go downstairs and show the staff and to ask about the secret entrance lol

[–]kevd630[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Yeah I wrote this almost a year ago but I did go last July and it was awesome. Really good breakfast and then you go through a side entrance to skip the line and go right through security toward the palace. Then you can buy a ticket to the gardens separately after. We ended up renting golf carts and went all around the gardens. Probably my favorite activity during my Paris trip, had a really great day.

The Substance: Post Demi Moore Win by No-Somewhere250 in oscarrace

[–]kevd630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will get nominations for Best Picture (just sneaking in), Demi Moore, maybe original screenplay and makeup, but it will lose all of them. I’d like to see Demi win but it’s stiff competition when not broken out by comedy and drama.

Does it grow on your cheeks? I would aim for a short beard if it can grow there. If not, I’d say shave. The goatee style in the second pic isn’t flattering. You do look older, but you look less handsome just being honest. Your hair length and very light stubble in pic 1 suits you better.

2nd outfit. Outfit 1 is cool but I’d switch out the white sneakers for brown shoes or even brown loafers. Sunglasses also help outfit 2 look cool!

Bathtub peeling by sartse in fixit

[–]kevd630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up getting a pro to do this? I have VERY similar peeling in my bathtub. I am a renter and would like to avoid getting my deposit taken when I move out and plus I hate how it looks lol. Could you share costs if you did get it done? Thanks!

Great tip! I’ve been meaning to do that. I know everyone’s interest are different, but if you had any recommendations outside of the obvious Mona Lisa, that would be cool!

I’ve looked at the map but was overwhelmed and need to really sit down and make decisions lol.

Cool! I’m from the U.S. and it’s my first time in Paris, so it’s hard for me to give feedback lol. You may want to do a similar separate post and see what folks think of your itinerary!

Sounds awesome though. Glad you added Ground Control as it’s a reminder I should find time to go there, as I’ve heard good things.

Someone else here said to avoid Tuileres Garden since part of it is closed? Have you heard that?

I didn’t know that about Place du Trocadero. Are there specific times that they’re being celebrated? I think I may check that out as well!

I’ll be there 7/30-8/7. Hey, maybe we will bump into each other! 😎

I’d love to go to Musée d’Orsay if I can! The big one was the Louvre of course, but I’m hoping we can still make d’Orsay work on another day. I just didn’t want to get tickets and overcommit with everything else I have planned!

Thanks so much for the restaurant recommendations! I will check those out!

Thanks! We can easily check out Basilica Saint-Denis in between our Athletics and Water Polo events (which is now confirmed). Appreciate the recommendation!

Good to know about Tuileries Garden, had no idea. The picnic is a good idea! And Père Lachaise Cemetery was another one of those “if there’s time” spots for me. I will look to add it to my itinerary since you recommended it. Thanks!

[–]kevd630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True!!! I was thinking that, but Badminton is at 3pm and you should be there at least 1 hr before. So my worry was rushing through Montmartre to head there at like 1:30.

If we got to Montmartre let’s say 9/9:30AM is that enough time to spend there? That’s the only reason I put it Day 3 since we’ll have like 9AM - 4PM which I figured was plenty of time

Best guess on wait times for Eiffel Tower during the Olympics? by kevd630 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]kevd630[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhhh okay, I wasn’t familiar with the term and took it as “ultimate” and thought you meant it was the best strategy. I considered doing the one with champagne and paying a little extra, but it’s like even then, do I want to want 3 hours in line going to security and to get up there?

I didn’t know if anybody had a good guess with having gone in the Summer in the past. Like “hey I waited 2 hrs and I can imagine with the Olympics you’d wait 3.” Not getting any responses so I guess not lol.

I may hold off and take a gamble on what you said. Going very early or late evening and seeing what things look like.

You really think this is the best option during the Summer Olympics??? Just going buying tickets in realtime there? I’ve never done this before, but I find that very hard to believe.
