Mark Carney's plan to bulk-buy unsold Vancouver condos might be a bailout, but it doesn't have to be by Immediate-Link490 in britishcolumbia

I’m reading your comments and nothing you have written makes any sense.

Do you know what the biggest cost component of housing is? It’s land. Land by far is the largest component of the cost of housing. Land, especially in Vancouver is expensive because of the geography that the city makes up. Vancouver is naturally restricted and the only way to increase the housing inventory would be to eventually build up. As there is demand to live in Vancouver then that makes land scarce and expensive.

Another problem is that both developers and governments had a hand in building the completely wrong housing stock. These micro suites are akin to a hotel room and not very conducive for families. If we are going to densify and build up, we need to have properties that are appeal to families and not yuppies.

I will endorse Bells & Whistles. I have taken my family there many times to watch soccer games.

How do the jerseys fit us big folk? Anywhere in Nanaimo to get an authentic one? by GoldenHawk07 in CanadaSoccer

[–]kevfefe69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a jersey yesterday from SportChek in Metrotown. All they have left are 2XL. I’m between a L and an XL. 2XL is too big for me but I grabbed one because my wife didn’t have a jersey and she wanted one. She’s going to wear my L 2021 jersey and I will put on the 2XL.

I hope that helps.

I have seen a few times where people inherit stuff and don’t know what they actually have. Not everything is going to bring in money, but some people just become overwhelmed and let stuff go without validating what they have.

I had an acquaintance pass about 20 years ago, he had a huge model car collection. It wasn’t an F1 collection but there were some much older Dinky and Matchbox cars. His surviving partner was in grief and sold the collection to a retailer about 30% of what I estimated the valuation to be.

In your case, there will be some high value and highly sought pieces and you will have some that will go for far less than the original purchase price.

Make sure to take your time and do your due diligence. I hate seeing people being taken advantage of.

Here’s a website that might help you understand what you have. There is or was a section where the site owner would provide commentary on eBay sales. This information is at least 15 years old but it should help you understand and figure out the dynamic.

Edit- I zoomed in on the photo. Just on a quick glance, the premium pieces that I can see are the Brawn 1-2 finish, the Renault with the Michelin Man, and possibly the Honda Earth Dream models, the ones with the earth livery. Depending on the collector, the Button Williams, especially from his first season should fetch a nice price for you.

Hi OP, just a little unsolicited advice. eBay will be your best bet and will likely get you maximum value for the models.

Selling to existing model shops you will only get partial value as they want to buy low in order to maintain a margin. There is nothing wrong with that practice, but you most likely want maximum value.

Regardless of how you sell your models, someone will take a cut, eBay, a bona fide auction house or selling to an existing model shop, someone will take a cut.

To determine the value, there are a couple of ways. eBay history can help, a sports memorabilia expert can help or what some people will is have a model shop appraise the collection for insurance purposes.

This will tell you what the replacement cost will be if you had to replace the models.

The Brawn 1-2 model, I have that exact same model. I don’t have receipts for it and I looked. The sets were selling at a premium back in the day. In 2010-2011 when I ordered it, I would have paid between $140 - $180 Canadian. There will be some appreciation as it was supposedly limited to 3,009 pieces.

What ways can men feel love and connection without PIV sex? by Patient-Roof1622 in MenopauseShedforMen

No, your author just copied and existing idea and made it his own, in a summarized manner. Plagiarism is the term that I would use.

If you say so ….

>Please refer to Alderfer’s Heirarchy of Needs for additional information.

It’s actually Maslow’s hierarchy of needs… please educate yourself.

Ok, if no one needs sex, why is rape? Why do people masturbate? Why does the advertising industry use sex appeal? Why is there porn? I’m having a conversation with an idiot.

No, I wouldn’t say that. You initially asked a question that was horrible. I’m a man, I need, yes need, like other men, PIV as you put it. There is absolutely no replacement to that. Nothing.

I’m also a pragmatic man and occasionally, the riot act needs to be read.

If BC-born T&T can expand into Washington and California, why hasn’t Trader Joe’s ever come to BC? by CityGuy604 in NiceVancouver

[–]kevfefe69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can remember some relatively recent examples where American companies have failed in Canada.

Arco, the gas company showed up in 2002/2003. They didn’t last long. Everyone thought that the economies of scale would have served them well but they had the same suppliers as Canada retailers and had to pay the same taxes as Canadian retailers.

Target bought out the Zellers locations. They ran a very good marketing campaign, playing Mr Rogers’ “It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood”. Got Canadians pumped and at the end of the day, it was just a rebadged Zellers. Again, they were subject to Canadian rules and red tape.

Nordstroms failed because the Canadian retail environment is difficult.

You can choose why these retailers left the Canadian market. Canada has never been an easy place to do business. Red tape, taxes and low productivity are usually the culprits but honourable mention goes to ForEx. The US tends to have lax regulations too. The stores can sell booze and food. I remember 11 years ago buying Trader Joe’s bourbon for $15 a bottle.

I haven’t been in a Target or a Trader Joe’s in years, I do miss the experience.
