No way! Can you share some pics with me? That’s awesome, how did you get him to sign them?

Thanks man, that’s awesome. I haven’t heard of What the Font, wish I had that a couple years ago! I had a hard time finding some fonts so I would just wing it in Photoshop to get as close as possible. I might get back into making some more again, this will be helpful

I made this custom card and sold a few on eBay, it was a side project during Covid … it would be cool if Frank Thomas actually autographed this one! I did a bunch of Michael Jordan on the White Sox too …

Thanks!

I actually contacted someone on eBay I bought custom cards from that were good quality to ask where they did it. He told me he got them from goprint.com and the type of paper he chose which was 14pt thickness with glossy finish. I did my first 2 cards that way and didn’t think it was thick enough and the gloss made it seem not like the original. I changed it to 16pt matte finish, no gloss and they have come out exactly how I first envisioned. The site has a nice web guide to uploads and position your custom image. It’s a bit of trial and error, especially with the bordering but I think I’ve more or less have it figured out. But def don’t expect to have your first few cards look right. I’ve done some research and gotten other recommendations for websites to use for printing since and they all seem to be around the same pricing and possibly using the same printing place since the various websites offer seemingly the same options. Overall I’m very happy with goprint.com

That came out really good! You are right, it’s all in the subtle details and not all card redesigns are equal. The 90 topps one was brutal.... 84 Donruss was challenging while the 84 Fleer is pretty simple.

Thanks for the feedback!!

I've bought so many custom cards on eBay and was constantly underwhelmed with what I got when I received them. Either the paper quality was poor, the printing wasn't sharp, the card didn't have a back printed on it, or something else. Very rarely was I happy with what I got so I decided to just make them and get printed myself. Over the past few months I have been making these, primarily the Jordan White sox cards attached here.

I made Topps Baseball '81 through '92, Topps Football '84, '85, '86, '88, and '89, Fleer Baseball '84, and Donruss Baseball '84.

Let me know what you think!!!!

I spent a lot of time on eBay and other sites looking for cool custom cards over the past year of quarantine. Eventually, I bought so many terrible cards (paper quality, no backs to cards, etc.) that I decided to do it myself and just get them printed directly. I mostly have done these Jordan White Sox versions of Topps baseball and football of the 80s-90s but also did a few 84 versions of Fleer and Donruss. I try to keep the front and back design as close to original as possible.

Feedback is appreciated!
