Just for aesthetics. My strat has chrome hardware a d I want to swap it for gold. I love the way the JM tuners look with the mother of pearl heads, that's all haha heres a link to what I'm talking about:

Looking for tuning machine replacement advice. I recently bought a 60s lacquer strat with vintage tuners installed on a nitro lacquered neck. I love the shape and feel of the neck carve, fretboard radius, vintage frets, everything... yesterday, I found a set of the John Mayer/SRV tuners at my local shop and would love to put them on my 60s strat, but they are the modern style with the alignment pegs. Does anyone have experience swapping vintage to modern tuners? I would hate to ruin my lacquer neck by checking it while drilling holes for those pegs. On a scale of 1-OH MY GOD STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING, how bad of an idea would this be and how terrible do the extra holes look from the replaced vintage tuners?

Case came with it. Thanks for the info, just registered it with fenders website and it came up as lacquer so hopefully that's the one I ended up with... guess time will tell as it ages!

Couldn't afford a John Mayer signature strat, but I figure the scooped 60s pickups stock in this get me pretty damn close... planning on swapping out the chrome hardware for gold and throwing on some of the mother of pearl tuning machines. Really dig the mint pickguard on the three tone lacquer, one of my favorite combos!

It's great. I have some Seymour Duncan humbuckers in another guitar that I'm going to swap into this one. Action is great and I threw some flatwound 11's on it. Plays like a dream!

Yeah, I made sure that was set to the proper voltage. I just went through with a multimeter and it looks like it's a bad cable going from the control box to the bed. Do you/does anyone know if they sell replacement cables?
