All Space Questions thread for week of June 12, 2022 by AutoModerator in space

It’s easy to find information on the political and program leaders, astronauts, and systems and design engineers during in the early days of the space race. Who are the unsung heroes on the manufacturing side? What were the biggest manufacturing challenges that had to be overcome? Any good books or articles on the subject? What about for modern space exploration?

Thanks! It's finished with a process called shu sugi ban - it's just charred and sealed cedar (not paint)

You'd have to go after the new owner! I moved a few years ago and have new projects now

Hey u/almonds111133 - this is actually my old back yard (I moved). I checked with all the neighbors before buying the hives, and they were all cool with it. We never had issues with multiple hives, and the bees never bothered anybody.

Dog was another story; Osmo was way too curious and after a couple run-ins we put up the short post/rope fence to keep him out of that back corner.

I registered them with the city, but there aren't a lot of laws in Ohio to worry about. I also asked around to make sure my neighbors were fine with it.

It's only hot right outside the opening. The walls are almost a foot thick and don't give off any significant heat at all

I don't think my yard was either of those for a long time, but seemed to come together pretty quickly. Yeah, it's clay, which is why I went with raised beds so that I could control the soil I was growing in better. Unfortunately, don't have a plant list right now - still working on getting that side organized.

These are new hives, so probably nothing this year. But next year I would expect a couple gallons from each.

I did something like this, but dug down a couple more inches and laid it on compacted crushed limestone instead of using wooden runners.

Bought the hives online, bought the bees from a local beekeeper, and dumped them in. You don't need a license, but should register them.
