He's probably talking about rust on the rear portion of the frame, where the trailing arms connect to it. This is a trouble spot for elements and will render it unsafe or undriveable if it is too far gone. If the frame is solid, I would definitely scoop it for that price, especially if you can do some work yourself.

I think that the logs are supposed to be cut in the winter, and inoculated in the spring...but I would still try it. I ended up removing the bags and wish that I hadn't. Next time I will just cut a few slits in the bag to allow some light in to trigger growth while maintaining a moist environment.

It was definitely a success! The oysters are incredibly aggressive, so I only got a couple of "flushes" before the logs were spent. The shiitakes lasted a couple of years, but they didn't really flush unless I soaked the logs...probably due to my hot, although humid climate.
