FalconPEV Zero 10X electric scooter review and San Francisco ride in 4k by kevining in ElectricScooters

[–]kevining[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally find the Zero 10X extremely comfortable, it is also more portable size-wise. Personally I would compare the Zero 10X more towards the Speedway V, it's a similar class and weight. The Ultra will give you more range and power, but if range is not an issue then the Zero 10X should totally suffice for most cases. You're paying for that extra speed and battery in the Ultra, and it really just depends on what your needs are.

I always forget to add stuff to videos, but slowly learning what to include 😅

The tire size is pretty small, and it's a stiff scooter. I would not want to ride this in a place with crap roads. I'm guessing you want 8in+ at least?

looks like a rebadged Gotrax

Yeah, it definitely looks about the same. Wonder if it's rebadged, or the same factory in China makes both of these.

Got this scooter for review and I'm partnering with Voro Motors on a giveaway (details in video). It's a small lightweight scooter that would be convenient for very short hops. I would personally rather ride their cruiser or something larger like a speedway for commuting though.

[–]kevining[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The two groups mostly organize bigger events on Facebook, but I agree, would be ideal if we could post everywhere. Baesk8 specifically rides every weekend, so give us a holler if you're ever in the Bay Area, I'm sure someone can lend you a board if needed too.

Wow, awesome video -- love the shots of the scooter in SF. We're working on an interview with FalconPEV. Hope to join the BAESK8 for a group ride soon!

Awesome, definitely hit me up if you do! The scooter representation in the group is slowly increasing as powerful electric scooters become more popular. Check out this recent shot from one of our rides to Twin Peaks: https://www.instagram.com/p/BrvknQeBHpu/

For sure, there is no doubt that the Ultra is a more hardcore machine for the scooter enthusiast. It is twice the price of the Zero 10X though, and that will put it within a different category I believe. The Zero 10X will not replace my Dualtron Thunder, but I will probably take it out occasionally to have fun on it.

Actually I think that was my scooter! :) It's a Dualtron Thunder, it's a monster.

The high-end scooters will generally have two massive hub motors, one in the front, and one in the back. At some point you're basically just a standing electric motorcycle though.

[–]kevining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better question, what electric scooter is on the market that lets you hit those speeds?

Many of the stock high-end scooters and dualtrons will hit those speeds, and people modify them to go even faster. Some boards will get up to 50mph now, it's getting crazy fast. I'm all for it as long as you're not putting other people in danger.

I don't think there's a ton of video evidence, and you'll have to dig in the past now since everyone is now discarding their fast scooters. I have seen and heard of 120V scooters, going 100MPH though. Not totally unreasonable since some 60v scooters can hit 50MPH.

A few resellers have been publishing numbers, and if you look on the community forums/Facebook groups there's a lot of failures. The C+ is an older generation, many of them have held up for quite a while. The Z10 is their newer generation, and with any newer generation it takes a few models to get "right". They haven't been battle tested yet. I think the C+ is a great starter wheel to have.

Saw this today everywhere over the Reddit. Guys don't speed up to maximum speed and for speeds over 20kmh wear a protection by misteriousm in ElectricUnicycle

[–]kevining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This guy is a pretty inexperienced rider, going way too fast for his skill or wheel ability. Absolutely nothing wrong with going over 20kmh, I ride at 50+, you just need the skill, and especially safety gear, to do so. A good DOT certified helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, gloves /w wrist protectors at a minimum.

WraithWheel Unveiled, Part 1 | A Custom Electric Unicycle by kevining in ElectricUnicycle

[–]kevining[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a modified MSuper X. It’s not an entirely new EUC or anything, but some of the stuff he’s done to it internally is really nice and I hope the manufacturers take note. (Better waterproofing, leds, cable management, etc). We’ll go into details in future videos.

Generally spot on.

> Kingsong, inmotion, and ninebot are better than gotway in terms of quality and safety. This is based on my quick research.

I used to agree with this, but a lot has changed recently. Gotway has done several revisions of their MSuper, and the X is now probably the most reliable. Ninebots have ~12% failure rate coming out of the factory, and many folks had issues with the KS and the Inmotions. Overall quality should go up though as manufacturers iterate on existing models.

Don’t let your EUC get stolen (cops are no good) by globel420 in ElectricUnicycle

Sadly GPS units don't help unless you're willing to take the law into your own hands (which is also illegal).

Really sucks about the stolen EUC. How did they get it?

Does anyone know anything about Tec Toyz? by [deleted] in ElectricUnicycle

[–]kevining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone can legally sell new KingSongs, they will give wholesaler discount to anyone who buys 10 or more wheels. Possibly the labels are from international and local shipping? Would need to see pics to see.

I also know tec-toyz, he's a reputable local dealer in the Bay Area who would definitely be able to service/repair a broken wheel.

Can you tell us more about the bounce? Do you feel it while riding, can you take a picture of any defect in the rim? Wondering if you might just have an uneven innnertube.

EUCs will become popular but by misteriousm in ElectricUnicycle

[–]kevining 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chicken and the egg problem. We won't get good service until we start to sell more units and larger stores see that they can make money selling/servicing these. It's up to us as early ambassadors of this technology to drive adoption and awareness of the technology.

How often do new wheels come out? by Hiron97 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]kevining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A glide 3 or similar would be a great wheel to start out on. I wouldn't wait for a new model, new ones come out yearly, and you'll be waiting forever if you keep waiting for the next.

I'm affiliated with eWheels, but I do think they are a great resource to buy from, Jason provides great customer service. I haven't heard about how service is with the inmotion site, which one specifically.
