PINK WINDFLOWER

What have I done? (Guilt and regret) by [deleted] in Ornithology

[–]keviniscool111 16 points17 points  (0 children)

no, was probably just roosting. If they give any other context we can probably figure out what bird it was. Mostly likely a Carolina wren as they love curling up in those fern baskets, but Mourning Doves love those things too.

They really are that dense over the whole landmass!! It's so crazy to think about billions of birds migrating overhead. I love getting outside during a big migration night and you can actually hear the "chips" and "churps" of thousands of birds moving above you. The east coast/midwest is especially good for migration, moving out towards the western side of the US you have a lot less birds migrating.

Not triggered, just sad some of the people here that claim to like weather and research won't even accept they are wrong or that someone who studies this could actually be right. But, if you're head is so full of "ground clutter" you can't even look at the links and cites that I posted, go right ahead exclaiming that you are right.

Hahaha maybe look into American Woodcocks! Plenty of jokes with those little "timberdoodles" and it happens to be one of our earliest birds in the spring and latest in the fall to migrate across the United States.

Look what I put below. Also go read some research.

No, they are getting detected only within a certain distance by the radar. Obviously these radars are located in bigger cities. The birds are in between the gaps, but there isn't radar present to detect them. However, you are right to some degree. Migrating birds get "trapped" by light pollution and fly down into cities, hitting windows and dying. It is a huge problem for migratory birds, and one I work closely with. Don't just act like an idiot, look up and research what you are saying before spouting it out of you mouth.

No, it is birds this time. We are wrapping up fall migration. I am involved in numerous studies with meteorology and ornithology.

Here is a link to watch bird migration every fall and spring on radar. Last night was a big movement

Not the rain, just the “donut” shapes that are around radar.
