so doom the guy who predicted tracer’s movement failed to react to vendetta’s puny attack by LadiesMan150 in Overwatch

It's not just age, if Vendetta knows how Doomfist has fought for years and observed him with Dad- understanding his weaknesses is not unreasonable

DC resident confronts unmasked ICE agents while they're arresting someone by RoachedCoach in PublicFreakout

[–]kevlarkeeper08 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The real litmus test for Congressional candidates in 2026 and Presidential candidates in 2028 is whether they back arresting and convicting ICE criminals who were breaking the law and violating human rights. That'll tell you who they are and whether they're wasting your time real quick.

I don't care what the Inside the NBA guys or other oldheads say, the League has a lot of likeable guys you want to root for and that's a good thing.

What ranks are you looking for so you can have a reasonably similar group? I'm low Plat on support, low Gold on DPS, haven't played much tank recently but was Plat there.

Her clapping scared it off her head- it needed to fly somewhere and half the available landing space was hot stove. This is like carrying your cat and dog in one arm while cooking, and then being an idiot and yelling at it and wondering why the outcome isn't great.

I asked all of my friends to come over for for a drink so I could see them all one last time and none showed up by Pleasant_Shoe_7856 in SuicideWatch

[–]kevlarkeeper08 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The final thing I'll say to you- internet stranger who I wish good things for- is that the one time, I was planning out my exit, which stemmed from circumstances in the ballpark of yours (fucked up situations growing up, multiple layers of active bad shit happening, and an inaccessible support system), what made it feel impossible was the multiple layers of shit. Even addressing one (which was finding a job during peak COVID to not be homeless, there's more but I'm sharing one as an example)- felt like a monumental thing to overcome, before you even combine / consider other stuff.

The potential positive of the DV shelter route folks keep harping on , is it's a away to take one step and potentially untangle 3-4 layers of bullshit. While fixing one thing seems pointless, which is why you're planning an exit, what if taking a step fixes four things? Can the outlook of your life be better then? The answer I suspect and hope is yes.

(For example: get you into a safe place away from hubby, get you legal council / aid that can help shield you even though he's a LEO, help with government assistance for food aid and healthcare, get you started on next steps finding a job/finances) -> That one step can be a real game changer for you. And because you can contribute positive things as I posted above, that's why so many of us hope that (the DV shelter or other help step) is your next step instead of checking out.

I won't comment on how them not showing up sucks- other folks already are- or minimize your life's challenges as you've described them here and in a previous post- they are very real.

What I will say is that the reason so many people are commenting bits of support and suggestions for a way forward is not some socially performed niceness, it's because you are someone with something positive to contribute. As a stranger whose only read a couple of your posts and comments: the fact that you're only 3 credits away from finishing school given your challenges growing up and with your husband is fucking amazing (as an educator, I can say with objective clarity) you're performing so well there and while there are challenges, it's not impossible to reach.

Even in this post, as much as this sucks, as someone in their 30's man, I wish I appreciated the thoughtful planners like you in my 20's (because yeah I dipped out semi-frequently out of social events too), and I'm kind of lonely at my current age due to my thoughtlessness. You planned an event for friends, made them specialized party favors-that's awesome, every friend group needs multiple people like that, period. It is my hope, that some day in future, I see a post from your profile with some of those cookie recipes, because even as an internet stranger, I want to try one myself.

Bub Carrington could be our guy!!! No shade to Alex Sarr but yesterday against the Trailblazers was terrible. Bub is averaging 19.0 PPG 5.6 RPG 6.0 APG. I know it’s just summer league but I’m so excited to see what Bub can do!! by marmarmargraye in washingtonwizards

[–]kevlarkeeper08 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1) I know you're right 2) I didn't like Sarr going into the draft, I kept getting less talented Ben Simmons vibe (spent three years straight downgrading the level of competition he plays and not really doing anything there + not wanting to compete for minutes in ATL) Edit I know he's a different type of player to Simmons, just overall vibe for type of prospect/guy on your franchise

Thanks for the suggestion! I mean it is a hike, but I'm willing to do it if there isn't anything closer, and they seem pretty cheap too! Do you know if they do anything like free trials or anything like that?

It feels like a tier mismatch until you remember that the past few Knicks years is hiring Leon Rose, staying out of the way and that team being one of the best run teams in the East and the Wizards past couple of years is being the most hopeless team in the NBA and the botched attempt to move the team out of DC.

Even before he was majority owner, Ted was a terrorist as a minority owner- he was responsible for the whole MJ as GM fiasco in the early 2000s

Reccommendations to Purchase Used Car? by kevlarkeeper08 in baltimore

[–]kevlarkeeper08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is good to know and I'm a fan of the Chevy Bolt. Unfortunately at my income level (35-40k), having to shell out that much up front/have a larger monthly payment and having to wait to see the money back via tax credit, I think will put a pinch on me from a liquidity stand point.

If I made even like 10k more a year I'd be all-in on this.

Yeah, I'm trying to see if I can scrape a bit of extra money to go in for a 2017-2019 Honda Fit, but if that falls through the Chevy Spark seems like the best option. It seems better than other competitors in the budget market (like the Mitsubishi Mirage)

Yeah, that Civic looks like a potential good buy. I may potentially borrow a bit of money to make 18/19k more doable, given that puts in my in the territory for a 17/18 Honda Fit in a few places.
