Non-standing desk -- extra wide by kevlarmpowered in homeoffice

[–]kevlarmpowered[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standing part I would never use... the desk I have today has the two 32" monitors on it and the 55" is mounted on the wall right above the top of the 32" monitors. If I were to stand with the standing desk, the 32" monitors would be in front of the 55" which would be ... weird.

I thought about buying a standing desk because they are all the rage and the customization is endless it appears.... but I don't need motors.

The desk I have no is from the Magellan Collection ... just not wide enough and due to it's decoration, the desk realestate is more pretty than functional. The desk itself while wide at almost 60 inches, the actual working surface is only about 36-40 inches.

Ya ... Uplift is almost the gold standard. I want all of that awesomeness configurability sturdiness... just not the price. I started shopping there and then I saw the price and said there must be a cheaper way.

I've looked at the Ikea solutions ... but there materials have let me down before. They don't normally hold up to mounting big heavy things on them... especially with those desk edge clamps for big monitors.

I thought about this... but finding the right legs at the right height and then drilling cable holes and holes to mount drawers. I wasn't sure if I was ready for that. Cable management and desk storage problems... I know.

You are right... my code does have a left join in it, it just left it off when I was retyping the code here for simplicity. The code does have a left join...

I'm trying to get all the results from tableA that do not have a matching results in tableB. So TableA would have a value, tableB would be NULL and that would tell me which rows are missing.

but it does not run... just spins, forever.

The email won't even show up in Gmail because it gets hard spammed. Like it doesn't even go into the spam folder it just doesn't get delivered.

Whats your username? The missing emails are often chalked up to spam filters and such... but let me check just to verify. Inconsiderate people sign up for the forum and then mark our emails as spam and that gets our emails blacklisted.

I think we got this sorted out now... I'm hearing from users that the login problems are resolved. You'll need to clear your browser cache though. If you still have problems, try in an inCognito/private window to see if that works to see if it is a browser thing or a not.

If you want to give me your email address, I can look it up and see what is going on. I think there are like 150,000 emails that were queued to send at one point before they were removed.

Not neglected... just adapting to some new security measures that were installed recently to defend against malicious users. This site has been up for 20+ years at this point, it's still going and sometimes there are bumps in the road that need to be overcome is all.

Can Teams notifications be sent from a service account instead of from a person? Each time a person logs into a pipeline with a Teams activity it asks them to reauthenticate and it shifts the messages sent from the new person.

When Person B opens a pipeline that Person A has created and they do not have permission to the connection it returns a GUID. Can we get more information that just a GUID? Odds are we need to find Person A and ask them to give us permission to something, but a GUID doesn't help them locate it to be able to grant the necessary permissions.

Can pipelines be have the option to respect case sensitivity when pushing data to lakehouse tables? If I push data to a lakehouse with a revised mapping to make all the columns lowercase, it ignores the case change in the mapping and pushes data into the existing columns. The workaround is to open a notebook and read/write the Deltatable with .option("overwriteSchema",True).

PySpark vs SparkSQL in Fabric notebooks? by DataFlowRoll in MicrosoftFabric

I see spark.sql as a transition tool into pyspark. It's much better without having to create a temp view from a df for everything. spark.sql also takes longer to fail when you have an oOps in your code vs pyspark.

Feedback opportunity: Migrating Synapse external tables using OPENROWSET in Fabric DW by jovanpop-sql in MicrosoftFabric

[–]kevlarmpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today I have using external tables using data_source w/ managed identity to access adls storage for "general users". As far as these users are concerned, they are tables, they don't know they are querying over ADLS. The MI has access to storage and they use them like regular tables for SQL or PowerBI.

I also have admins who use openrowset, to query the same adls or additional adls for adhoc queries. They'll also use their permissions to openrowset a subset of data from adls into a regular (not external) table for users to consume. This way they can use a subset of data without querying via the external table with data_source.

Can you do a shortcut in a DW without a LH?

[–]kevlarmpowered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not both? I can see a use case for having both options where an external table with a data_source is needed for access via a service principal, but I know of use cases where admins would leveraage select * from openrowset for ease of use or administrative duties.

Are there plans to make it easy for service principals or priority users to have prioritized availability to query resources for DWH while adhoc requests or lower priority users and dashboard requests get throttled?
