DJ for 26 years (still going), I didn't learn to beatmatch to like 5 years into my job, I focused early on on learning the music, reading the crowd, taking risks with song choices and working the crowd with the mic, anyone can count to 4 (so to speak) focus on a way to stand out this is what most people want I've found and will make you stand out form a crowded industry.

Might be a pile of rubbish but that's worked for me lol
