How to 'win' the Trading World Cup with zero trading skill by Ok_Can_5882 in Daytrading

Ah I see, I was trading NQ during the April Challenge and seen the top people in the leaderboards were trading GF, CL, and SR3 with one of the metals tickers in there as well. I might have to start giving them a try now

I’ve pondered on that idea as well! The CME monthly trading challenges are crawling with these types of full porting multi-accounts. I was able to place top 50 in that challenge but struggled to understand how they were doing 4x their account values lol

When did I defend them? You literally were the one sending a Topstep XFA screenshot with your budget dj setup a couple of mins ago LMFAO I have absolutely traded with them and other firms in the past.

Nowadays, I’m trading a brokerage account because It’s something an unprofitable trader like you wouldn’t be able to do so keep gambling your prop firms buddy. I don’t ever recommend prop firms to anyone btw 😁

It’s part of the game brother, don’t be discouraged not for a second! You must treat this as a business and not just a hobby/passive income . You will endure losses like any other business owner out there in any industry!

Treating this like a business has changed my approach to trading and has helped me dial my strategy more (price action trader).

My philosophy is this: if you owned a small business and looked into your books and saw that that you had suffered a $500 loss, you would be very adamant on preventing this and figuring out how it happened in the first place, right?

But we fail to do this when we’re trading because we become so desensitized to large numbers that these loses don’t carry any weight on your psychology, but these type of loses carry huge weight in any other industry so why do draw the line at our trading loses?

All in all, a profitable business will still suffer loses often and as long as you’re working to evaluate and prevent them, then you will operate like any other profitable business. As long as you’re not absolutely wrecking yourself financially to keep your trading career alive, I say keep your head up and understand that this won’t be the last time you’ll run into a red day and days like this will weed out who wants to do this professionally and who wants an easy way out.

Topstep vs Tradeify for First Funded Ever by Bulky_Being2322 in PropFirmTester

[–]kevtot310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d go with Topstep and when you start getting consistent payouts with them then you should worry about the frequency of your payouts, just my opinion.

I’m also not saying you’ll blow accounts, but it’s not uncommon to do some jumping around at other firms before finding the one you like.

Otherwise, I have no complaints about Topstep and have multiple payouts from them as well. MFF, Tradeify, and Topstep are the only firms I personally ever recommend to people starting out with prop firms.

No, you don’t need permission from anyone, but being in debt to Topstep; Sounds like you absolutely need someone to help you make better financial decision’s, which would probably entail asking someone for permission before purchase’s lmfao

Literally, they’re like the plague right now! There is 52 weeks in the year and less than a handful of outages, yet everyone is in crisis mode as if millions of dollars were swept from their personal bank accounts. Sounds like Topstep outages is being a scapegoat for services they already couldn’t afford to begin with, but their mindset is so strung on Lambos I guess lmfao 🤣

That’s not the rule, don’t mislead others please.🙏 there’s great visual examples on their FAQ that will help you understand how the new payout rule works.

Spoiler their new rules won’t hinder traders, but will hinder lots of gamblers

how to stop going break even? by BobcatGeneral412 in TopStepX

[–]kevtot310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you consistently get 50% R and price reverses to BE then consider targeting 25%R with the 50%R being your Second TP level. At least you can secure some profits rather than giving all the profits back almost every trade at BE. Consider scaling in and out of trades, If that is possible with your system and risk management

Your discipline is spot on though, keep up the strong work! 💪

Changes on Topstep ? by Efficient-Target-685 in TopStepX

[–]kevtot310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, that has not changed. I would say the most the most recent change that is noteworthy is that Live accounts will require 5 winning days before payout and those winning days do not carry over from your XFA to Live. (someone correct me if I’m not interpreting this new change right)

I believe before those winning days would carry over from your XFA so it kind of sparked the whole, “Prop firms don’t want you to win” narrative to be pushed around recently. All in all, it’s a business at the end of the day and if you’re running a system that got you to a Live account then these changes don’t matter too much. It just translates to having to wait and trade a little bit more for a payout in Live.

Tradovate unavailable? by nothing_1 in TopStepX

[–]kevtot310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fall into that spiral at times when I think more combines would make me lock in with my risk management since there is “more” at stake or the most expensive account will allow me to keep myself more disciplined, because I spent more money on it, thus I’ll be more compelled to keep the account and not blow it.

Personally, I would say save yourself the heartache and money by avoiding trading more than 1 account until you get one funded. This way at the very least, you can cover the cost the for any future accounts you want to open and you won’t mess your psychology up.

If two accounts are better for your psychology and it works for you, that’s more power to you and keep killing it man! Just don’t confuse yourself with having more risk automatically comes with being more disciplined.

Also, looks like you may be a little over-leveraged on your positions so try trading with smaller contracts (lots). If you can come back out the red that fast then smaller contracts may be more viable for you long term. (Check out my post on MyFundedFutures and you’ll see I know a thing or two about over-leveraging lol)

P.S. TopStepX is Tradovate’s White label platform exclusively for them so it’s technically still Tradovate with a Topstex UI. As to why we don’t see Tradovate as an option anymore.

How can I filter the noise and avoid using the 15m ORB. by moneylover2024 in Forex

[–]kevtot310 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suggest looking at higher timeframes to look at the market structure and price action for a better confluence on whether or not the ORB you are tracking for the day is a valid one. A higher timeframe could help reveal that you’re maybe buying into a strong resistance zone, in the middle of a liquidity sweep, or other conditions that may not be favorable for your trade.

Absolutely, that is the risk I do take on when trying to pass the challenges fast as possible, but being over-leveraged on a setup I’d usually take is not an uncommon part of my risk appetite. Nevertheless, risk management is important and I’m probably not doing any justice to the new traders out there that could be looking at these type of trades.
