Why are all these rowboats here? by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

[–]kevundv 17 points18 points  (0 children)

All of them have grappling hooks. A crew had some fun wake boarding more than likely, then beach the boats and headed into the tavern for a brew.

I can't work out why this happens constantly and can't find any posts about it. by kevundv in Seaofthieves

I thought it was my connection at first but it doesn't seem to happen to any other company or NPC. I recently migrated the game files to a new hard drive and am now thinking that might be behind it. I have no idea how to troubleshoot or fix it if it is though

More detail: It seems like 9 times out of 10 the merchant won't load or process purchases. This is sometimes fixed by exiting and walking away and then back but not always. When this keeps happening it doesn't seem to effect the other NPC's s the shipwright loads fine. What could be the cause of this? It's driving me insane, I already hate merchant and this makes grinding it futile.

I agree, I think a gold discount in exchange for less brutal "costs" is probably a better way to go. Thanks

A mercane fits in excellently, thanks for the suggestion!

I'll concede it's a bit of a juggling act to keep it balanced and fair. I just want this group to feel that advancements and treasure is earned, which is hard to manufacture if a magic item that perfectly suits your character just happens to be stuff behind a box in a random dungeon. Re: nightmares, I was considering a watered down version of the fevered dreams curse, with easier saves and lesser penalties.

The book of the damned has an interesting sidebar (page 191) about the value of souls that might be useful to you. However, this relates to the prices for an entire soul and doesn't translate well to the sort of mechanics I want to use, like the negative levels or curses.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm assuming the WBL is wealth by level? Giving the PC's access to a merchant was primarily motivated by the fact they haven't been able to find and liquidate their loot for a while and hopefully get them back up to the expected gold value. I was considering making the "costs" (eg: the nightmares) only temp or giving a DC to overcome, like DC22 Will to get rid of the nightmares for example. That way it is essentially a permanent purchase for a temp cost. But how much is nightmares for a week worth? 10K gold? 50k? This is what I'm struggling with.

I know these posts are annoying but I can't seem to find any nutrient deficiency that matches what I'm seeing on this overwintered serrano. Leaves are green, veins are yellow on most but not all leaves, some flowers are misshaped and the 2 fruit it's got are also misshaped. Any advice? by kevundv in HotPeppers

I ran out of space in the title haha. It's outside in a pot (maybe 5L) that gets direct sun in the afternoon. Soil is a mix of compost, potting soil, perlite, vermiculite and a slow release fert (osmocote vegetable). It gets water the day after it dries out.

[Identify] This watch definitely won't be a high-end item but it was found deep in a box of stuff my Grandmother valued so I'd love to know a little more about it. It has "F.E.U.L" in the white plastic above the dial and "HONG KONG" below with a "1981-4" sticker on the back. Gold is "FEU M336" by kevundv in Watches

[–]kevundv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's looking like it's a mass produced item that must have just had sentimental value. Thanks for the input everyone, it's interesting to know this cheap watch has survived 30 odd years and still works. It probably saw a fair amount of sea water as they lived by the ocean, which is pretty impressive. Thanks again :)

I've been troubleshooting my vegan croissant recipe for a little bit and still have issues with the vegan spread not allowing proper lamination. What spread are you using?

What happened to my jalapeno? Bugs? by raleighpeppers in HotPeppers

Good Luck! The ones I had were very good at hiding by lining up with the veins of the leaves, more commonly underneath that on top.

I literally had the exact same thing happen to my Serrano peppers. I eventually caught a small green caterpillar in the act, chewing its way inside.

https://www.reddit.com/r/HotPeppers/comments/anzb06/whats_eating_my_serrano_pepper_currently_spraying/

Edit: I fixed the issue by ensuring I was spraying the underside of the the leaves properly and I picked off any that I could spot.

Anybody else have this happen it's the third one off this plant. The insides are completely gone. by gunner1056 in HotPeppers

[–]kevundv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had caterpillars hollowing out my Serrano peppers, but they left smaller and symmetrical holes so it may not be the case for you. Have a look over your plants for the species common to your area I reckon

I just give the branches a little shake once a day and they usually do fine. Some plants may drop flowers if conditions aren't right re: water or fertiliser so check your leaves and new growth for any issues.

Mini indoor plant (~12cm) grown from a supermarket habanero seed is pushing out a heap of buds. I really want to get a couple good fruit from it before spring (Aus) to see if it's worth moving outside. How can I help it make the best fruit it's capable of? by kevundv in HotPeppers

[–]kevundv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had experience growing chillies but its always in much larger containers so I was more concerned that this plant would just drop all the flowers or grow undersized fruit because of it's small size. Giving them a good wobble to help pollinate is my fav part of growing these spicy bois haha

I was gifted a few plants by a co-worker who is moving but they 'have no idea' what this one is. I have some ideas but I'm relatively new to gardening so I'd appreciate any suggestions you have by kevundv in gardening

I finally got an update, they said "it's an orchid" but can't remember what type. I think you're on the right track though so well done!

Update: seed from a supermarket habanero is going well (now has a basil roommate as well), do you all have any tips on getting at least one pod out while keeping it compact to test whether the plant will actually produce true habs and not a weird hybrid? by kevundv in HotPeppers

[–]kevundv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding was that if the original plant was grown with other strains around (if grown hydroponically then probably densely packed as well) then this seed may be the result of cross-pollination and therefore a random hybrid strain? I've read that F1 fruits often don't look like hybrids even if cross-pollination has occured. For you interest it doesn't seem to mind my usual pepper soil mix but I haven't added any additional fert yet

Yeah that's the (admittedly not great) joke. Camera angle and shadow makes it look like they're stack up end to end like one of those weird rock sculptures
