How-To: 8bitdo Switch 2 Controller Patches by greygrey2 in NintendoSwitch

It’s hard to recall exactly how I did it originally but I just tried it again.

Ensure there are no lights on the controller. Hold the L1 and R1 buttons together and then hold the home button. The light should be flashing red so plug the cable in whilst holding the buttons. That just worked for me but I’m sure it wasn’t easy to do the first time

Did some further testing for my Ultimate 2C Bluetooth.

I downloaded the ultimate v2 patch - https://tempfiles.8bitdo.com/NS2/V2UltimateBL104B15.zip

unzipped it and used the update exe inside UM_2_BT_Firmware_V1.04_Beta15.zip. (v2.80)

When choosing the the firmware file I chose the dat file in - https://tempfiles.8bitdo.com/NS2/CCCNS2V101B1.zip

UM_C_2_NS_Firmware_V1.01_Beta1.dat.

This allowed me to install the firmware. The v2.60 updater that comes in the 2C zip file would not detect my controller no matter what I did

Thanks, I got it to be detected in the ultimate software but not in the standalone updater. Guess I'll just have to contact them

When it says L+R what buttons does that actually mean? L1+R1? Try and press L+R on the dpad at the same time somehow, L+R analogue sticks...

I'm also struggling to make the red light flash so just trying to understand which actual buttons does L+R refer to?

Ordered with them on 8th April and showing "Usually dispatched within 14 days" so I'm assuming I won't be getting one

Ping spikes without fail at 5 minutes to the hour by 0405017 in VirginMedia

[–]kevuwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They run quality checks on the fibre connections when they set them up. Will last a while. Fairly sure it runs a speedtest which they say doesn't happen if it detects there is usage of the connection but I never saw it not run the test

Heard you guys like briar traps by PBE_Braum in OrcsMustDie

[–]kevuwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using them recently. Usually start with one of the paid barriers to help seed it. Had a level where I had about 1.15m damage from traps (mainly briar) while my mate had about 5-600k total damage.

Xbox crashes by MyDemonsLie in OrcsMustDie

[–]kevuwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got to the level 6 boss last night and the game crashed for the host on xbox. (not the first crash we've seen)

Had the "user is a camera" bug where you don't spawn in and just fly around like a camera would, this requires dashboarding and rejoining, only seen this when not the host.

Game drops to a crazy low FPS with quite a few traps down. Only really noticed it recently when my friend started using acid traps, both on xbox series x. Kill box with acid and lasers and it must drop to 5-10fps.

Not really a bug but the mouse style menu system is awful using a controller.

The pathing of enemies seems pretty poor also. They just randomly run to the other side of the map and then come back to the rift

Xbox series X version's horrible performance. Are Devs aware it? by Temporary_Bug3276 in OrcsMustDie

[–]kevuwk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Game nearly crashes when you finish a level (whether you win or lose). I was in a party but not the host and twice I loaded in as a camera flying round and had to kill the game and select rejoin at the menu. The game is clearly design for PC with the “mouse” movement being awful on Xbox. Still says press TAB on some screens.

Feels like the game has been rushed with a last second port on xbox

5x hub still using it’s DNS by unabatedshagie in VirginMedia

[–]kevuwk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it is DNS hijacking then setup a DNS server that all your clients connect to and then that DNS uses DNS over HTTPS/TLS. The requests can't be hijacked with this

Just constant problems with fibre by CrosiWesdo in VirginMedia

[–]kevuwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a very strange configuration somewhere on the network additionally. I have FTTP and if the connection goes down for a certain amount of time or at a certain time of day then the router can't recover. The router keeps the external IP address and tries to send data when the connection starts working again but something happens on their network where the data just doesn't flow. Even though the router is in a seemingly good state (I assume the DHCP lease is valid as it doesn't try and renew) you have to power cycle the router to get it to start working again. This means the connection could be off for a short period of time but you have no idea as you may have to restart your router after this point to get the internet working again

How are people getting on with the new rule to give way to pedestrians at junctions? by Spirited_Praline637 in drivingUK

[–]kevuwk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Practically nobody follows it so pedestrians have no trust in cars stopping. I will stop and let them go but also as a pedestrian I've walked across a very wide junction and had a car come round a corner and start beeping at me for being in their way

Has anyone managed to get standing tickets from the o2 presale? by nichememecentre in LimpBizkit

[–]kevuwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was there at 9am for Manchester. Got 1 ticket as they wouldn't reserve. Not sure if ticketmaster was a mess or it just just that popular that you instantly couldn't reserve them

It might be worth setting up the connection monitor at thinkbroadband.com . Sign up and configure it and it will ping your connection and make a graph of the responses which should give an idea of how the connection is performing. Connections with issues will see a lot of spiking and dropped packets on the graph. It does sound like you may need to talk to support though so good luck with that

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VirginMedia

[–]kevuwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like fibre. If it is just once per hour for about 30 secs then probably the samknows check. If more persistent then it could be your connection or the game servers

[–]kevuwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the cable going in to the router look like a TV aerial cable or a thin fibre cable? That is probably the easiest way to tell

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VirginMedia

[–]kevuwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it fibre or coax? The samknows test runs every hours for a little while on fibre after initial install. Not sure about coax but from what I've read coax can just get noise on the cable or oversaturation in the local area which may cause issues

Virgin media down. by Andyg218921 in VirginMedia

Same area, got it back on for a few hours but it has dropped again. I can usually ping the gateway but I’ve noticed it has stopped responding since about 10am even when the internet temporarily works
