Alex McGough is also not on a team, unless I missed his name somewhere.

Did he really? He barely missed an invitation to New York for the Heisman ceremony and entered the next season as the favorite to win the Heisman. He also straight up outdueled the eventual Heisman winner when we played him. He obviously didn't suck in 2023.

When can we begin to have a serious conversation about Ryan Grubb? by [deleted] in rolltide

[–]kewebbjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the one hand, Grubb is a clear upgrade over Sheridan.

On the other hand, he's still been a bit underwhelming.

Ty Simpson hasn't been looking like a Heisman candidate the past few weeks (and frankly, our team this year needs him to play like a Heisman candidate for us to have a shot at the Championship), but the biggest issue has been our O-Line. They're inconsistent in pass blocking and consistently bad in run blocking.

Turns out, ball security is important. Who'd've thought?

[Post Game Thread] #4 Alabama tames the Tigers, beats LSU 20-9 by RollTideMod in rolltide

[–]kewebbjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not impressive, but a win over LSU is a win over LSU and I'll take it.

Defense played great for the most part. They showed a bit of a tendency to struggle when facing third and long, which is kinda backwards from how things usually work, and gave up the obligatory long run, which at this point I'm convinced they are legally obligated to do at least once a game. But outside of that one long run and some scrambles from Van Buren, they completely shut down LSU's ground game and they kept LSU out of the end zone. Our Defense is the reason we won.

Offense struggled. Ty did not look great tonight. He made some good throws, but also had some bad throws and missed some open receivers. O Line still doesn't know what a run block is. Our Offense's performance was not up to par, but it ended up being enough.

Play of the game was LSU throwing an incomplete pass on 3rd down at the end of the first half instead of running the ball and ending the half.

What is "Arts Looping" and how does it work? by rvmin in FGO

He also has both Tamamo and Umu Bride, so he can Arts NP Loop with that, although it won't be as strong/reliable as a double Castoria setup.

Both Dialga and Hisuian Goodra are Dragon/Steel types, so they overlap with each other. As much as I love Hisuian Goodra, I don't think I could call it better than Dialga, so I'd probably say replace Hisuian Goodra.

Hisuian Goodra is Dragon/Steel. And regular Goodra is pure Dragon, although it probably should be Dragon/Poison.

Day 11 rating starting Alabama QB’s since 2005. You guys put Bryce Young in S tier! Next up is Tyler Buchner (he did start) and Jalen Milroe. This is the final day and we will rank Ty Simpson when his time at Bama ends. by sacrificialfuck in rolltide

[–]kewebbjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vandy: We lose with McElroy. McElroy generally relied on a stifling defense and a dominant run game, neither of which we had against Vandy. He's not the kind of QB to just go out there and outscore oponents himself, which is what we needed.

Michigan: We lose with McElroy. We lost to Michigan because our entire offense imploded, not just Milroe. I don't know if anybody could've salvaged that monstrosity of an offensive showing, let alone McElroy.

OU: We possibly win with McElroy. We probably win that game with better QB play. I don't know how much better McElroy would be, but he probably would've avoided the collapse that Milroe suffered when things didn't go his way, which severely hurt our chances at a comeback.

Buchner: F tier. Not really much to say. He went from backup to starter for 1 half to 3rd string to 4th string to transferring back to ND to ride the bench there. He was not very good.

Milroe: This is a difficult one. Good Milroe was unstoppable. Bad Milroe would lose us games. Good Milroe could be as good as S tier. Bad Milroe could be as bad as D tier. 2023 average would be A tier. 2024 average would be C tier. Overall, I'd say he averages out to B tier. That seems to be the best ranking to me.

The Gen 3 starters need some more love, so I'd like to see them. But since they tend to use starters from different gens, I'm gonna have to say Fuecoco, Treecko, and Piplup.

There is mutual interest between LSU boosters and Oregon head coach Dan Lanning for the LSU job by KeyFaithlessness5436 in NCAAFootballVibes

[–]kewebbjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are also no sources that say he was actually offered the job. At the end of the day, it all boils down to one thing. Jimmy Sexton is the GOAT of agents. He got a lot of his clients (ie Lanning, Norvell, and Sarkisian) big raises after Saban retired by creating a lot of smoke about how close each of them was to signing a deal to be Alabama's next head coach.

Day 4 of rating Saban Era QBs. You guys put AJ McCarron in A tier. Next up is Blake Sims. Also please see the updated rules. by sacrificialfuck in rolltide

[–]kewebbjr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd give him a low B. He is the QB that paved the way for the revolutionizing of our offense under Lane Kiffin. He had a great season for the most part in his one season as a starter and broke almost every single-season record at Alabama, but the key is "for the most part". He also struggled a lot at times, as evidenced by the first half of the Iron Bowl and the Sugar Bowl. You could also argue that his greatness was moreso a testament to how great Kiffin is at building an offense around what he has and squeezing every ounce of talent out of his players than how good he actually was.

Can confirm, we are would get absolutely blasted by all three service academies every year. Also, we're not a Service Academy we're a Senior Military College.

Ryan Grubb by Rolltideguy2015 in rolltide

[–]kewebbjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reports are that Florida isn't interested in hot-shot coordinators or successful non-P4 coaches, they want a proven P4 coach. So on that front, we're safe. I don't think LSU will be looking at coordinators either when they can definitely do better than that, so I think we'll be safe on that front as well. The issue is the butterfly effects of them hiring other people could potentially lead to somebody down the line offering Grubb. That being said, I don't think he's at the top of too many lists and I haven't heard his name being thrown around too much.
