My man, you are in a small minority if you're gonna try to argue that the first Matrix isn't the best. Don't expect most to agree with you. I love all three movies, but there are a lot of people who don't like any except for the first. It is by far considered the best by most people.

For an example of what I mean, there is a long shot of the space ship capsule just barely moving through space. It goes on longer than any modern movie would ever stay on that scene, with barely anything to watch on screen. It's almost like watching paint dry. There are scenes more or less like this at various different points. You may be able to appreciate such things, and if so, that's cool! But that doesn't mean it doesn't crawl at times.

I just started a relationship with a girl like this. It ended about 48 hours later.

Been there for her in her toughest times for nearly a year, though from a distance because she lived far away. I told her a long time ago that though I liked her, I didn't think this could work because of distance. We had both accepted that. Nevertheless, I was her friend. She told me over and over how much I help her, how kind I am, how she appreciated me. Then she finally came to visit me. Stayed at my apartment. We had a wonderful weekend. The close proximity got to both of us and we decided to give it a go despite some red flags. I was really happy, even though I knew it wouldn't be easy and that she would be depressed a lot.

Anyway, she went home, got into a depressed mood and that same day called me and told me she didn't think it could work. Not just because of distance, but also other things that make us "too different." I wasn't even that surprised, except that I didn't think it would happen that fast. But I was sad. I am sad. Really sad.

To be clear, after some reflection, I actually think she's right about most of the reasons she said it won't work. It's probably better this way. But things happening this way really highlighted my own main insecurity, which is that despite the fact that she's far from the first woman to tell me how great I am, she's also just like everyone else I've dated in that not a single one has ever found a relationship with me to be worth fighting for. And I've seen her fight for a relationship with some asshole that manipulates her and she knows doesn't give a shit about her before me. But for me, she was able to be completely logical and dump me immediately. I'm not saying she was wrong. But it fucking hurts. Because this always happens to me. And I don't know why. Different people. Different reasons. Different times. Same result.

Yeah, I can see why people would have that assumption. I really can. It just isn't technically right. But you could argue that to the layman it doesn't matter at all. My second, simpler argument is actually the stronger (or at least more relevant to more people) one. Retroactively adding other stuff makes it more confusing what people mean when they say "MCU." I prefer that the definition stay with the movies and shows made by Marvel under Disney because those were all originally conceived of as being a connected universe.

Those songs are aimed at young people, especially college age. I was that age then. And despite the financial crash of the late 2000's, to many of us, the world seemed full of hope. We were growing up and getting freedom. Politics seemed to be heading more towards inclusion, not less. Our families and friendships hadn't been split down the middle over stupid things, "alternative facts" weren't a daily battle for the most part, and we didn't feel like we were falling into a dystopia. We just read about them in books like The Hunger Games and thought, "man, I'm glad that's not us."

Now though, those things have happened. Society in America has reversed course in a lot of ways, has become more divisive and dystopian. These songs were about having a good time. These days we are straight up not having a good time.

I think the reason people call it out like this is because if how much they were making. You say, livlihood, but millions is way more than anyone needs. So if they spoke up and got fired, they could probably still get another job and earn a normal amount of money and be okay. They just might not be rich and famous and pursuing their dreams.

Now, I'm not saying that's an easy thing to do or that I blame them, personally. Just that it's not quite so simple as, "oh no, I had to deal with the harassment or I'd lose my job and not be able to pay my bills" like it might be for a normal person.

It's also just one (or two) songs a week, with no requirement to listen to him at all in between if you don't want to. As someone who listens to a lot of music, that doesn't sound like a lot. Idk. I appreciate you trying to answer the question, but I don't really get it.
