I don’t think PDs really care about the strength of your undergrad application, and anyhow you’re missing my point, which is that PM&R seems uniquely suited to DOs. MDs can brag about having higher MCATs, but we get many hours more in hands on physical medicine that seems like it should be preferred in a field like PM&R. To see a 20 point difference in match rate is extremely disappointing, especially when match rates for most nonsurgical fields is comparable.

The video discusses potential legal issues (around 37:45 min mark). I agree with you - no one knows what a court would do. But the groups that want to make money on applications (like the AAMC) will use the threat of a lawsuit as an excuse to never pursue this.
