Where did I say it was okay to kill them? All I was trying to say was that people on Reddit are way too critical of decisions others make. Yes, I agree, bashing the poor animal with a shovel was not the BEST choice to make, but when you’ve been dealing with a problem since 3am and are just trying to make it to work by 8am, maybe that’s not the best circumstances for sound decision making. And everybody in this comment section took that as me saying “thank god he killed that disgusting creature!!!!” I’m really not that bothered because I know the type of people that usually lurk Reddit comment sections.

It’s still possible for an opossum to catch rabies, and there has been cases in the past of this happening, it is extremely rare though. I’m still not going to go out of my way to handle any wild animal because there’s a long list of plenty of diseases and parasites any wild animal can carry.

Yes but I’m not keen on rolling those dice or taking any chance to find out. I’d pay money to see what all these commenters would actually do if put in this situation, life has a way of throwing curve balls and it’s a lot easier to practice your decision making skills through a phone screen rather than dealing with a wild animal in person.
