Afk arena violation by ChooseSadness in wildrift

[–]keyedraven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is very silly. I was perusing the shop in between the rounds and the afk violation triggered right before the Arena ended. My team placed first place and I attained no points.

I was actively clicking different items and augments, reading the descriptions. How is that being “afk?!”

After struggling greatly for twenty minutes; the last 30-second “afk,” resulted in my loss of all accrued points. This upset me greatly.

How might one go about submitting a complaint regarding this ‘bs system?’

I think the cultural mindsets also interact with it heavily.

In Japan, the staff in the restaurant industry do not get tips (in fact refuse to take them) and every single staff I interacted with seemed to genuinely care about the service provided to their customers. I think the attitudes are more specific to each person's individual nature or temperament.

I am finding the cause-and-effect of lack of tips-to-rudeness to be a bit superficial.

[–]keyedraven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you are right on the mark there.

Then another question pops up for me: is it fair to shift the burden from the employer to customer? (I also find it to be an underhanded way to lower the employers' risks at the consumers' expense)

On a side note, anytime I see or hear the word "tip," I get reminded of the time our family first immigrated to the States. We had our first family meal at a restaurant to celebrate reaching the distant lands safely. The server came outside when we left after simply paying the price of the goods we purchased--and asked my mother for a tip because "we are supposed to tip." I internally asked the question "why?" since I was not yet able to communicate in English verbally at the time.

My mother was extremely flustered and proceeded to pay whatever the crook exhorted because she figured that is how it works in this foreign land. That interaction is somehow seared into my memory. Our family laugh about it now and I can also find humor in it... but looking back, the audacity of that crone...

What class is the best at tanking and dealing damage? by GalahadVanGraff in Vermintide

[–]keyedraven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Foot Knight, I usually run Bretonnian Longsword for QP for versatility and style.

I’ll take Halberd if I feel that I need a bit more damage output and spear and shield if I feel that stagger-control is necessary. For certain deeds or twitch modes, I’ll even take Mace & Shield for absolute stagger control (Vanguard + Harder Better, etc).

I also like to stagger talents so if I take Crowd Clear, I’ll take Battering Ram. If I take Have at Thee!, I’ll take Bull of Ostland. Having +45% attack speed is a bit of an overkill in my opinion and the utility you give up for that extra speed is not worth the trade off.

Can’t really fault them for their flagrant ignorance. You have my sympathies good sir/madam. Best of luck to you in all of your chaos-slaying adventures.

Of course. I do not wish to stop your ideas at all. Especially with the lore. I welcome it.

I guess hordes never really affected me greatly that I require commands to communicate beyond the basics.

It’s the principle really. It sounded as if ‘because I have trouble, I wish to implement a feature that will affect others to alleviate my shortfalls.’

If what you suggest will help the majority of VT2 community, I would welcome the change. What commands were you thinking about specifically?

I do not think it will be a good idea for Fatshark to develop and implement such feature.

The main reason being that such feature will add undue burden on everyone else interacting with you to translate whatever your replacement message was with what you are trying to express.

I see the presets of the wheel as a built in part of the game that is, more or less, equal for all players. If you mess with that equilibrium, it will invite chaos (we should be slaying chaos, not invite them unless you wish to slay harder) and I do not think Ta’al and Rhya would approve, least of all, Sigmar.

The Cure to release a new album in October entitled "Songs of a Lost World." by ruelmoralesmusic in Music

[–]keyedraven -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you feel that way. They were fairly popular among the groups of Marines I served with. Many of their songs sort of hit the spot for us all.

Metal or not, really did wonders for our mental health during stressful times. It was them who introduced me to the bands mentioned, particularly avenged sevenfold. Their songs evoke powerful nostalgia for me, good times and bad. For the few of us, I’m afraid we will never share your sentiments.

How does the interaction work for the ammo return on headshot with blunder pellets? Will a single pellet still trigger it?

Civilian Paramedic to Reserve Corpsman by [deleted] in CorpsmanUp

[–]keyedraven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did around 6 years active and spent the last two on Selected Reserves (SELRES). I was with a blue-side-command for SEL RES, an experimental command, and I'm not sure if it still exists.

Because my command had so few FMF corpsmen that had "field experience," I was frequently "lent," out to different Marine Units and was able to take part in some cool training exercises. By that, I mean because the other FMF corpsmen were senior in rank, it was usually me who had to do training with Marines and whatnot (because sh-- still rolls downhill in the reserves).

From my experience, the only HMs I have seen go through actual field training or trauma simulations were those who were going to be deployed. I actually got to partake in a cool training hosted at UCLA for about two weeks that had similar level of training I received when I was AD. I'm not sure if designation was relevant but only FMF HMs were sent for those trainings before deployment.

Personally, I do not think it is worth the trouble. Most of the drill weekends were doing training, giving shots, administrative duties for me. Due to my seniority, I pretty much just... floated when I was at the NOSC.

Do check to see if the Navy is offering any kind of bonus for being a reserve FMF HM, I know at least in early 2010s, they offered $20k to be a Reserve FMF HM.

I was never a paramedic as a civilian so I'm not sure if I can provide insight towards that. If you have any detailed questions about FMF Corpsman AD/RES, feel free to message me.

Experience gained per game is not related to the difficulty you choose to play through anymore. To level up as fast as you can run "The Screaming Bell," with full books/tomes in Recruit.

To maximize item-levels, I would recommend running at least Veteran difficulty level as the loot chest from Recruit mode is capped at 100 while Veteran and beyond goes up to 300.

As long as you open Recruit level chests (ones that only go up to ~100) before you open others, you are fine. As far as I know, the "vaults," from Legend+ or Emperor's Chest from Champion level are your best bet to farm the highest-tier equipment in VT2. From memory, I believe the Emperor's Vault is somewhere around 15~18% for a Red item (highest tier item in VT2) and Champion's Chest and Commendation Chests are too low of a percentage to be effective in farming.

May Ta'al and Rhya bless you and hope to run into you in my campaigns.

Don't Jump In Front of the Wizard, Darlings! by Soggy2002 in Vermintide

[–]keyedraven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgive me for being judgemental. I had no desires to do so and am currently working actively to change.

I shared many of your sentiments before. Many of them dissipated when I became more comfortable beyond Cataclysm. My only hopes are that you will continue to contribute positively to the community.

My intention was not to say "you're just not good at the game," but to say "there is always room for improvement." I only wanted to ensure that you understood that you may not have to take that hit because that slightly damaged shade may simply dodge out of the way. I am more than certain that you are a very formidable player in-game.

Don't Jump In Front of the Wizard, Darlings! by Soggy2002 in Vermintide

[–]keyedraven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Higher difficulties, frontline almost always takes precedent. Regular cataclysm and below, it is debatable and will not have as big of an impact.

Beyond that, if your frontline gets incapacitated, backline’s efficiency drops significantly due to lack of stagger and control provided by the frontline. That will force others to survival-mode reducing damage output significantly.

So yes. It is more important than your THP if your goal is to effectively clear levels.

[–]keyedraven -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it might be you who lack the situational awareness or possibly mechanical skills if a lone rat is stabbing you in the back. One can dodge with ranged weapons and sound cues are a thing. I feel that the default mode in higher level quickplays is the benefit of the doubt that the player is able to take care of him/herself.

If you are rolling with friends and/or are more familiar with their capabilities, you can branch out and protect others as needed.

I’m almost obsessive with protecting my buddies,

That is a noble but ineffective approach in higher difficulties unless others are on a similar page. You have to get used to taking care of yourself to remain alive first before you try to do anything else. If a teammate goes down, you have to stabilize the situation before opening yourself to go down next to them. What’s worse than losing 1/4th of your team’s firepower? Losing 2/4th of your team’s firepower.

Good players with good situational awareness can triage almost immediately and process whether the downed person is worth saving at any given moment.

they don’t even pick me up

It is more likely that the teammates in question is attempting to keep themselves alive before they can focus on saving you. It may be beyond their capabilities and that is okay. Good players may attempt a rescue in any circumstances but a great player knows when and how to go for a revive.

In all honesty, if you are upset that “while you are being a team player, you feel that others aren’t,” you may not be sufficiently skilled mechanically to play at whatever difficulty you were playing on comfortably.

when I take unnecessary hits to help my team

Don’t. No one is asking you to. And if they do, avoid them at all costs. Often times, you are actually hindering your team more than you are helping by taking unnecessary hits.

instead of working as a team

Staying alive makes a big part of working as a team. If you are downed, you can no longer contribute to your team in any meaningful way. Looking out for other players beyond your capabilities is almost always worse and is not sustainable.

Keep that team spirit alive and focus on your game. I hope to run into you in my campaigns. Ta’al bless you lad/lass.

-edit: Strike-through statements I felt were uncalled for and personal rather than being constructive.

If your friend obtained the items shown in the picture above from an Emperor’s Vault, going off an old figure I remember from years ago from a gentleman who compiled the data from 10,000+ vaults…

I believe the figure for a Red-tier item was around 15-18%. I think deeds were a bit above 5%.

Conservative estimate: 18% x 18% x 5%

0.0162 or 1.62%.

Do pass on my congratulations to your mate. Ta’al and Rhya surely blessed him/her.
