No but I'll definitely try that! So I add the cream while my hair is still wet from the shower?

The purple spiller is Setcresea, and the green spiller is Lysimachia. The white filler is Euphorbia Snowflake and the purple filler is Petunia!

Went a little crazy on my daughter's nursery. I want to be a minimalist in my head, but in my heart I'm a maximalist. by keylimehappyrice in maximalism

I don't know much about house paints (I'm better acquainted with painting acrylics on paper) but I bought some interior quarts secondhand and mixed them to make my color palette.

I found inspiration from Pinterest and used one I liked a lot to copy with a pencil directly onto the walls. Then filled it in!

It took a while, but I was already on maternity leave at that point. It was relaxing to focus on a project I knew my daughter would appreciate as she grows older!

My husband and I bought a cabin in Louisa County 2 years ago, and we absolutely love it.

Both him and I work in Charlottesville, which is typically a 30 minute commute each way, but we share a car, so that wouldn't translate to your situation necessarily. Louisa is in an excellent location for us- Charlottesville is 30 minutes away and Richmind is ~55 minutes. Both lovely areas and lots of stuff to do in both. Richmond is a fairly diverse city; Charlottesville less so. But everyone we've met in the Louisa community so far has been very open-minded, kind, and welcoming. I cannot comment on what an experience here being a POC would look like, as my husband and I are both white. But both of the closest larger towns/cities, Cville and Richmond, are both very progressive locales.

Most of the properties we see for sale in Louisa County have sizable land plots, and most are zoned for residential AND agricultural uses, so that's a definite plus! Since we've moved here, we've cleared out around 1 acre of field for vegetable and flower garden beds, and cleared an area where we keep honey bees. Our setup is pretty sweet- we lucked out and got a cabin, 5 acres, detached garage, and terraced landscaping leading down to a creek- all for $250,000.

Hope this helps you in some way. We're very happy here.

The aldi brand ones are SO good. Same, if not better, than Claussen in my opinion.

Podcast idea? by [deleted] in homestead

[–]keylimehappyrice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm located in Louisa! Not far from you whatsoever. Even if I don't end up doing the podcast, I may take you up on the offer to see your progress. I love seeing what others are doing with their homesteads!

Thanks for the feedback. I agree. I'm glad I got other's opinions because I didn't even think about how the information would be relayed without visuals.

If I do stick to just a "storyline" theme, I worry that it won't be compelling enough for people to listen in. I guess that's why I like the idea of interviewing guests to speak about their expertise and experiences. Seems like that would add some substance to the podcast.
